This provision is good
Children make good progress in relation to their starting points. The childminder adapts her teaching to cater for all children, such as those who are learning to speak English as a second language. She supports their English and home language development well, and children develop good communication skills. The childminder implements effective procedures for assessing children's ongoing learning. She plans experiences according to children's interests, to help extend their learning. Children enjoy playing in a welcoming and stimulating environment. They learn to be independent and behave well. For example, they help to set up for snack time, learn to be responsible, and develop their self-esteem. The childminder evaluates her setting well. She recognises her strengths and some areas for improvement, to help her make changes to her practice. For example, since her registration, she has developed children's opportunities to engage in imaginative

play, to enhance their creative thinking further.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
At times, the childminder does not make full use of all the information she gathers when children first start, to enhance the way in which she monitors their progress. The childminder misses opportunities to keep fully up to date with relevant changes, such as those relating to childcare legislation.
p.1
What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the interactions between the childminder and children. The inspector looked at a range of documentation, including safety risk assessments, children's attendance records and the childminder's policies and procedures. The inspector considered the views of parents. The inspector held discussions with the childminder about how she reflects on the quality of her service. The inspector viewed parts of the premises used for childminding.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The childminder seeks and acts on the advice of others, such as parents and children, to improve her setting. She understands the importance of developing her professional knowledge and does this generally well. For example, she has completed online training to develop her safeguarding knowledge. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder implements relevant policies and procedures to help protect children and ensure their welfare. She recognises the indicators that may suggest a child being at risk of harm and she knows the procedures to follow if she has any welfare concerns.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder teaches children well and supports them effectively while they play. For instance, she demonstrates and guides them when using resources, while teaching them to do things for themselves. She uses what she knows about how children learn to encourage their involvement in activities. For example, she joins in with role play activities, questioning children to help them share and extend their ideas. Children have opportunities to develop their social skills. For instance, the childminder takes them to the local library to interact with others and develop their confidence. She establishes good partnerships with parents to ensure a continuous approach to meeting children's individual needs.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children show they are secure, happy and confident. The childminder forms caring relationships with them and supports their emotional well-being effectively. Children eat nutritious foods and learn about healthy lifestyles. They are active and effectively develop their physical well-being. For instance, they enjoy riding on scooters in the garden. The childminder teaches children to manage their own personal needs well, such as to wash their hands before snack time. Children learn about the importance of following hygienic routines to maintain their good health. The childminder uses her policies and procedures well to help her keep children safe. For instance, she completes regular risk assessments of the premises to ensure children's safety and welfare at all times.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children develop the skills needed for their future learning and are ready for their move to school. For instance, they learn to count, reciting numbers correctly, and they develop good early mathematical skills. Children learn to use tools safely and with control, such as for painting. Children develop secure social skills, for example, they learn to interact and play with others politely.
