This provision is good
Staff offer a caring and inclusive learning environment. Children behave well and settle quickly into daily routines. They develop good self-esteem and confidence. The manager and staff check children's progress regularly. When they identify gaps in children's learning, they intervene quickly to offer extra support to help children catch up. Children make good progress, in relation to their different starting points. They are well prepared for the next stages in their learning, including starting school. Children enjoy fresh air and exercise outdoors. For example, they learn to use the climbing frame safely and talk about the changes in the weather. Staff work well with parents and outside professionals to help ensure progress and continuity in children's learning. The manager continually checks and monitors the quality of the provision to ensure consistency in supporting children's learning and care.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
Occasionally, some staff miss opportunities to extend children's thinking to deepen their understanding further. Staff do not always provide enough support to help children develop their skills in using everyday technology.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed activities in all parts of the nursery, including the outdoor provision. The inspector spoke to some members of staff and children at appropriate times during the inspection and held meetings with the management team. The inspector carried out joint observations with the manager. The inspector took account of the views of parents spoken to during the inspection and reviewed parents' written comments and suggestions. The inspector looked at children's records, planning documentation and the nursery's policies and procedures, including those related to the suitability of staff.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. Rigorous recruitment and induction procedures ensure that all staff are suitable to work with children. Staff have a good knowledge of safeguarding practices and know who to contact if they have any welfare concerns. The manager regularly supervises staff and sets them challenging targets to help them improve the quality of their practice. Staff attend training and work with other experienced colleagues to improve their expertise. This is evident in the way that they use the information they obtain on children to accurately assess and plan for what they need to learn next. The manager seeks the views of staff, parents, children and others to improve her service. Parents speak highly of the manager and her staff, and of the good care and learning their children receive from the attentive staff.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
Staff plan and provide interesting learning experiences to meet the needs and interests of individual children. Children have positive attitudes to learning. For example, they use construction blocks to build favourite models and confidently talk about what they have created. Children love books and are keen to share ideas about their favourite pictures and characters. Children thoroughly enjoy their time in the nursery. For instance, they sing rhymes and try different musical instruments to explore different sounds. They draw and paint imaginative pictures and talk about members in their family. Staff tell parents about their children's progress and actively engage them in their children's learning.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Staff form a good rapport with parents and children. For example, they share their behaviour policies and procedures with them to ensure that everyone is clear about the expectations. Children learn to share resources fairly and take turns. They are aware of the cultural diversity around them. For instance, they respect the views of others and learn about different people, their cultures and communities. Staff help children to adopt healthy lifestyles, such as knowing about the importance of personal hygiene. Children serve themselves to food and learn that fruits and milk are good for them. Staff conduct thorough and regular checks on the premises and resources to keep children safe and secure. Children learn to cross roads safely when they go on outings.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children make good progress. Any gaps in their learning are rapidly closing. Children learn to be independent. For example, they put their coats on unaided before they go outside to play. Children listen attentively and respond well to staff's requests. Older children sort and match resources. They count objects, recognise numerals and confidently solve problems. Children recognise initial sounds in their own name and in the names of their friends.
