This provision is good
The childminder has a good understanding of how children learn and develop. She regularly observes and assesses children's play and learning. She uses this information well to carefully plan children's next steps in learning. The childminder knows how to meet the needs of each individual child in her care and offers a range of developmentally appropriate activities. Children make good progress in their learning from their starting points. Parents receive information about their children's progress from the childminder who encourages them to share information about their children's learning and development at home. The childminder uses the information she gathers effectively to support her planning for children's future learning. The childminder offers children opportunities to take part in small-group activities and these help them to learn how to cooperate with others. Children understand rules and

It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not make the most of opportunities to encourage children to build consistently on their independence skills throughout the day. The childminder does not consistently use the feedback she gathers from parents to help her precisely identify where she can improve her setting even further.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed children in learning activities in the childminder's home and garden. The inspector spoke with the childminder and children at appropriate times throughout the inspection. The inspector looked at children's records, planning documentation and a range of other documents, including policies and evidence of the suitability checks. The inspector had a tour of the premises.

Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. Effective policies and procedures underpin the childminder's good practice and help her support children's well-being. The childminder works closely with other professionals to identify areas for improvement in her practice. She uses a variety of ways to continue her professional development and identifies training needs. For example, since registering, the childminder has developed her knowledge of how to effectively use observations and assessments. In addition, the childminder has updated her safeguarding knowledge, She is aware of how to identify concerns for children's welfare; including any risk of harm they may be at from extreme behaviours and views.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder provides a well-resourced environment. Children are enthusiastic and eager to learn. The childminder monitors children's progress and has a secure knowledge of individual children's learning and development. She uses her knowledge to create opportunities for children to extend on what they know. For example, children enjoy counting the twigs, conkers and stones while making an 'autumn pie'. They develop good mathematical skills and their awareness of the natural world. For example, children count and compare sizes of the carrots they have grown as they harvest them. The childminder encourages children to explore their senses and develop their thinking skills. For example, children feel ice to help make them understand the change of seasons, such as the changes that may occur from summer to winter.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder provides a welcoming home environment. Children settle well and build good attachments with her. The childminder is a good role model and helps children learn good manners. The childminder supports children to learn about healthy eating. For example, children enjoy eating a variety of fruit and cereals, and confidently use knives and forks. Children learn about healthy eating. They are active and develop their physical skills well. They enjoy playing outdoors. For example, children enjoy planting vegetables, playing football, visiting activity sessions and exploring the local nature reserve. This helps to foster their developing knowledge of leading healthy lifestyles.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children develop the skills that prepare them for their next stage of learning and in readiness for school. For example, they attempt tasks for themselves, such as cutting up fruit. Children are developing an awareness of how to keep themselves safe, such as from strangers and road safety. Children develop good communication and language skills and early literacy skills. For example, they enjoy talking about familiar stories with the childminder and use a varied range of tools to draw and make meaningful marks.
