This provision is good
Children are highly motivated to learn. They are engrossed in activities which the childminder effortlessly extends to support children's imagination and development of skills ready for school. Children show extremely high levels of confidence and self-esteem. They have their own ideas and the childminder encourages them to express their thoughts and feelings. Children feel safe and secure as they openly talk about things that are important to them. The childminder has high expectations of herself. She is committed to continuously developing her practice. She obtains the views of parents and children regularly and uses this information to improve even further. Children are developing a very good understanding of mathematical concepts. They confidently count, recognise written numerals and use mathematical vocabulary in their play.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities indoors and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector completed a joint observation with the childminder. The inspector held discussions throughout the inspection with the childminder and children. She looked at relevant documentation, such as the childminder's self- evaluation documents, policies, procedures, children's development records and evidence of the suitability of household members. The inspector read letters written by parents for the inspector and viewed parent questionnaires. The inspector took account of parents' views.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder understands her responsibility to protect children in her care. She shares her policies and procedures with parents and ensures they are aware of her legal responsibilities. The childminder regularly updates her safeguarding knowledge and ensures she has the most up-to-date information from the Local Safeguarding Children Board. All adults living on the premises are checked and suitable to have contact with children. The childminder is proactive in evaluating her service. She reflects on her teaching skills and sets challenging but achievable targets to continually improve. In addition, she works closely with other professionals to share good practice and gain new ideas. One example of this is the network meetings she attends with other childminders. Since the last inspection, the childminder has reviewed the number of children she cares for and meets the legal

requirements with regard to child ratios.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder holds a childcare qualification and is passionate about supporting children's learning and development. She carefully plans activities that excite children and make them want to learn more. Each child is individually planned for to support them to make good or better progress from their starting points. Children communicate well. They ask questions, which the childminder takes time to answer while also promoting children to think for themselves. Children solve problems and have their own ideas. They make a caterpillar from dough and cooperatively create all the different parts of its body. The childminder extends learning to challenge children, while incorporating their interests. Trips and outings consolidate children's learning further and support them to know about areas of interest in their community. The childminder works hard to involve all parents in their child's learning. Each month a learning summary is sent home and next steps in

Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children are developing very good relationships with each other. They respect their friends and communicate constantly while they play. They listen to each others' ideas and contribute to conversations, taking it in turns to speak and listen. Children behave very well. They understand the rules and boundaries of the setting and when small disputes occur they are beginning to solve these themselves. Children are developing a positive attitude to healthy eating. They talk about healthy foods with the childminder and try a wide range of fruit and vegetables at snack time. In addition, the childminder encourages physical activities and children excitedly dance and show each other their best moves.
