This provision is good
Children's emotional welfare is exceptionally well supported by the childminder, who is compassionate. Children are extremely confident and secure in this warm, stimulating, learning environment. The childminder has highly successful partnerships with other professionals to develop her teaching skills and to understand the complex needs of children. She values and respects children, meeting their learning and welfare needs very well. The childminder skilfully supports children's communication and language skills. For example, children recall favourite stories and talk about past events. Children are constantly building on their skills and they make good progress from their starting points. Self-evaluation processes are effective. The childminder welcomes the views of parents, children and her assistant to make positive changes to her provision. The childminder keeps her home safe for the children to explore and move around in

with confidence. She helps children to understand about their own safety, for example, to run in a safe way.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not fully develop her partnership with parents to include information about home learning, to benefit children more in their learning.
p.1
What the setting needs to do to improve further

build on the already good partnership with parents to share information about learning at home to help children make even better progress.
p.2
Inspection activities
The inspector and the childminder discussed the systems she uses to observe and record children's progress, and the documents she uses to support her work. The inspector completed observations of the children as they engaged in activities with the childminder. The inspector looked at the rooms and resources the children use.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder is secure in her child protection role and understands her responsibilities. She knows the signs and symptoms that may concern her about a child's welfare and understands how to report these. The childminder supervises her assistant effectively in her practice and encourages opportunities for further training. Together they remain up to date with their childcare knowledge, which benefits children in their care to make good progress in their learning. The childminder generally has good partnerships with parents. She keeps them well informed about their children's daily experiences.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder observes children's progress well. She uses her knowledge about their interests to plan activities that help them make progress and to close any gaps in their learning. For example, children have great fun making drinks. They talk about the colour of the water and the smell of the tea and coffee. The childminder extends this activity; for example, helping children to develop physical skills as they pour milk and water into cups. The childminder makes learning enjoyable. For example, the children all laugh as they paint and print their hands, talking enthusiastically about the giant crocodile they are making. The childminder praises the children for remembering and extends this activity further by asking the children about the small crocodiles they have made. They all laugh as they remember the sharp teeth.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding
Children thrive in this highly stimulating, caring and nurturing environment. Children are good friends and show high levels of sensitivity towards each other. For example, they work very successfully as a group singing familiar songs for their parents. Children make very confident choices about their play, telling the childminder what they would like to do next. Children play cooperatively together sharing and turn taking. Children enjoying caring for each other; for example, they make cakes for each other's birthdays and share in special celebrations. The childminder carefully plans a wide range of experiences that help children appreciate and understand people and communities beyond their own. For example, they celebrate Moon Cake day with traditional cake and lanterns.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children make good progress for their age and stage of development. They develop good communication and language skills, and enjoy problem-solving games, which the childminder uses well to develop their mathematical skills. For example, they decide how to build a house, the colours they need and the size of the blocks. Children develop useful skills for their future learning and for school.
