This provision is good
Children make good progress, relative to their starting points. The childminder uses her observations very well to monitor their ongoing development, and to identify any gaps in children's learning. She uses this information effectively to plan activities that help children move to the next stage in their learning. Children are happy and show good self-esteem. They have very good relationships with the childminder, and show through their confident and affectionate behaviour that they feel emotionally secure. The childminder has very good relationships with parents, and information about children's progress is shared effectively. Parents regularly contribute to their children's learning and the childminder uses this information well in her assessments. The childminder monitors her practice very well in order to continually improve and to provide consistently good outcomes for children. She uses her self-evaluation effectively

This provision is good
to prioritise improvements that benefit children.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
Children cannot always easily see which resources are stored in each box, limiting opportunities to help themselves and extend their play. There are fewer opportunities for children who learn better outside to experience learning opportunities across all areas.

What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

provide more opportunities for children to make choices in their play ensure children who learn better outside enjoy a wide range of experiences to effectively support their learning.
p.2
Inspection activities
The inspector observed the childminder engaged in learning activities with children. The inspector read feedback from parents. The inspector talked to the childminder about how she plans learning activities and monitors children's progress. The inspector sampled required documentation, including the childminder's procedures to safeguard children, and discussed with her how she implements these.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The childminder focuses well on her professional development. She improves her skills through training, professional networks and independent research, and applies new knowledge well to develop her practice. For example, training about encouraging children to eats healthily led her to focus on children's diets and working with parents to make packed lunches more nutritious and varied. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a very thorough understanding of the correct procedures to follow to help her protect children from harm.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder uses her knowledge of children well to plan a good balance of interesting and varied learning activities, overall. For example, children have grown wild and cultivated strawberries. They have cared for them, making sure the plants were watered, and compared the differences in size and taste. The childminder uses her teaching skills very well to encourage children's communication and language development. For example, children thoroughly enjoyed a card game where they named the pictures and linked them to different objects and animals, identifying similar sounds. The childminder encourages children to be active and develop their muscles and physical coordination. For example, children enjoy action rhymes and moving their bodies to music. The childminder encourages children to use their problem-solving skills well. For example, she gave children clues so they could find objects hidden under coloured beakers.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children's behaviour is very good. They listen well to the childminder, follow instructions and take pride in helping, such as tidying toys away. The childminder works very well with other professionals involved in children's development to ensure a consistent and shared approach to their learning. The childminder teaches children to have a good awareness of hygiene routines in enjoyable ways. For example, young children sing 'Happy birthday' while they wash their hands, because they know that this is the length of time they need to make sure their hands are thoroughly clean.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
All children, including those who need additional support, achieve well. They develop the skills they need to be ready for the next stage in their learning. For example, they are independent and manage practical tasks, such as changing clothes and shoes, well. Children have good communication skills and high levels of confidence, which help them prepare for the move to school.
