This provision is outstanding

 The childminder is passionate about providing children with care and education of the highest quality. Children are at the heart of all that she does and their needs are extremely well met. This helps them to develop at a rapid rate.  The childminder is a highly reflective practitioner and uses incisive self-evaluation to secure continued improvements to practice. She has an ongoing plan for how she will raise the quality of provision, which is innovative and inspiring to others. Her provision continually evolves to meet the needs of the children and she achieves provision of the highest quality.  The childminder has an exceptional knowledge of how children learn and develop. Their development is precisely pinpointed as the childminder makes accurate assessments of their learning. She uses this information and her own knowledge to meticulously plan precisely targeted and highly stimulating activities to enhance children's learning at

every opportunity.  The childminder meets the needs of the children exceptionally well. She instinctively tunes in to what children need. Each transition throughout the day, such as sleeping, eating and playing, is seamless. This creates a happy and calm environment.  The childminder is an exceptional role model to children. Children learn how to behave well, value and respect others. The childminder skilfully embeds these skills in children from an early age and as part of their everyday interactions.  Children are active learners with enquiring minds. They consistently demonstrate skills beyond those expected for their age. The childminder responds to their efforts with encouragement and praise. The children use this to gain in confidence and attempt new challenges to enhance their own learning.

What the setting needs to do to improve further

To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

 pursue the future development of the setting through enriched professional development to continue to maintain and further enhance provision of the highest quality.

p.2

Inspection activities

 The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities indoors and outdoors, and assessed the impact this has on children's learning.  The inspector jointly evaluated an activity with the childminder.  The inspector looked at relevant documentation, such as the childminder's self- evaluation, children's learning and development records, and a sample of the childminder's policies and procedures.  The inspector spoke with the childminder and children at appropriate times during the inspection, and took account of the written testimonials of parents.  The inspector checked evidence of the suitability of the childminder and other household members, and the childminder's qualifications.

p.2

Effectiveness of the leadership and management is outstanding

The childminder is extremely professional in all that she does. Her record keeping is meticulous and her policies and procedures reflect the most up-to-date guidance. She identifies future guidance to be published that she will use to help her to develop practice further. She shares her knowledge gained from training with parents and together they implement new strategies to support children's welfare, for example, to cooperatively promote healthy choices. She engages in projects with other professionals to share her skills and knowledge. The childminder identifies that to secure the future development of the setting she needs to continuously pursue further training and professional development opportunities. The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder has robust policies in place to keep children safe and demonstrates her exceptional knowledge of a wide range of safeguarding issues.

p.3

Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding

Children experience high quality and challenging learning opportunities in everything that is offered to them. Younger children experience high-quality sensory learning activities. They enjoy splashing in a tray of water filled with sensory objects and enjoy the challenge of filling it up themselves using watering cans and buckets. Learning is fun and engages children for prolonged periods of time given their young age. Children communicate exceptionally well. The childminder talks to them in clear and simple language, repeats familiar words and introduces new vocabulary. Younger children confidently begin to repeat sounds they hear and use body language to develop communication skills beyond those expected for their age. Parents are thoroughly involved in children's learning and the two-way flow of information between home and the childminder reflects positively on children's learning. The joined up approach to supporting development ensures learning is

embedded and rapid progress achieved at the earliest opportunity.

p.3

Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding

Children are extremely confident and secure in their surroundings. Younger children safely explore their surroundings, which opens up opportunities for them to be independent from an early age. They manoeuvre their bodies to get into ride-along toys without support showing their determination, persistence and physical skills. They choose what they would like to play with and the childminder supports children's choices as she joins in with them. This helps children to feel valued and develop their confidence. Parents value the advice and support the childminder gives to promote children's well-being. The childminder advises and reassures parents when children move on to different stages of learning. This gives parents confidence to promote children's ongoing development.

p.3

Outcomes for children are outstanding

Children make consistently high rates of progress in the childminder's care. Younger children build extremely secure bonds with the childminder and communicate their needs and interests exceptionally well. This gives them the confidence to investigate and explore, to be independent and make choices from the earliest age. This prepares them exceptionally well to move on to the next stage in their learning.
