This provision is good
The childminder's high professional standards and enthusiasm for supporting children's learning and welfare underpin her success in the quality of her provision and teaching. The childminder has a thorough knowledge of how to safeguard children and manage any concerns she may have about their welfare. She ensures all children benefit from a wide range of daily physical activities. The childminder identifies gaps in learning quickly and addresses them swiftly. Children gain the skills needed for their next stage in learning. Children form very warm and secure relationships with the childminder and each other. They develop good social skills, for instance, as they mix with children of different ages both in the home and on outings into the community. The childminder has many professional links in the community, such as with local schools. This helps her prepare children well for the eventual move to school.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
Occasionally, the childminder misses opportunities to build on children's vocabulary to extend their language skills even further during daily routines. The childminder does not consistently build on children's mathematical awareness, such as counting and number skills.

The inspector looked at children's records, the childminder's planning and evaluation of activities, and information exchanged with parents. The inspector took account of the views of parents from their written communication and feedback. The inspector spoke with the childminder about the impact of her training, experience and practice on children'' well-being, learning and development.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder places high priority on using and sharing professional policies, procedures and completing daily risk assessments to help keep children safe. The childminder identifies areas for development effectively and improves her services for children and their families. For example, she develops her professional knowledge and skills through research and sharing good practice with others. Accurate self-evaluation enables the childminder to continually raise the quality of her provision and monitor the effectiveness of her teaching and interventions. For example, she has highlighted that she is currently reviewing her longer-term planning to develop it even further and have a more cohesive system.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder observes children in their play and plans activities that are challenging and follow their interests. For example, she encourages and supports children to learn to climb safely. The childminder observes children regularly and makes good use of evidence to assess their development and accurately plan future learning. The childminder develops children's creativity effectively. For example, children have good opportunities to make their own musical instruments and take part in music and dance sessions. The childminder develops very effective partnerships with parents and involves them in children's learning. Parents comment positively regarding the support their families receive and children's achievement.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children settle very well. They are relaxed, happy and excited to take part in activities. The childminder is very attentive and ensures she is continuously close by, giving support if needed. Children feel very reassured. The childminder is alert to potential risks to children when they are exploring the world around them. She teaches them ways to help keep safe from harm. For example, she reminds them of rules when playing on equipment. Children's behaviour is good. They listen well, are very positive and polite. The childminder supports children's health and well-being effectively. Children have daily exercise and fresh air and are provided with healthy food choices.
p.3
