This provision is outstanding
The childminder has an excellent knowledge of how to support children's learning and development. For example, she attends training to develop her skills and reads a wide range of publications to extend her knowledge even further. The childminder uses her knowledge of how young children learn effectively. She is very skilful in recognising when to speak, when to watch and be still and when to play alongside to stretch what the children can do. The childminder has extremely close relationships with the children. They know each other well and she understands their interests, skills and abilities. Children are exceptionally happy, settled and confident. Children have many opportunities to develop their social skills and learn how to behave. For example, the childminder takes children to local playgroups, where they meet, interact and play with other children. The childminder works very closely with parents. For instance, she completes a daily

diary to keep parents informed about their children's achievements and progress. All children make rapid progress and are exceptionally ready for the next stage in their learning. The childminder has built excellent partnerships with the teachers, which enables children to become familiar with the new environment prior to them starting school.

consider the range of experiences provided for children to help them make the most of all opportunities to fully extend and explore their learning even further, particularly when playing outside.

Inspection activities
The inspector toured the parts of the house and garden used for childminding. The inspector took account of the parents' written views. The inspector observed and assessed the quality of teaching and learning by tracking children. The inspector held discussions with the childminder in relation to observations of the children's play, learning and progress. The inspector looked at documentation, including children's records, training certificates and the childminder's self-evaluation form.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is outstanding
The childminder has exceptionally high expectations of her practice and children's achievements. She understands the importance of providing children with space, time to play, explore, create and solve problems on their own. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder is aware of how to keep children safe and clearly understands what she has to do if she has any concerns. She has an extremely positive attitude to extending her already excellent practice even further. The childminder attends a wide range of training and seeks the views of the parents, children and other childminders. She uses their opinions, ideas and suggestions to help her set targets for further improvement and raise outcomes for children even further.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding
The childminder cleverly links activities to aspects of children's lives which are important to them. For example, she provides play opportunities for children that reflect what is happening at home, such as bathing toy dolls to help children with new siblings. The childminder is very skilful at maintaining and supporting children's learning. For example, she encourages and helps children to learn to kick a ball when it is moving, while maintaining their balance on one leg. Children enjoy playing outside in the childminder's garden. However, sometimes she provides too many resources and choices, which slightly overwhelms children and limits the available space.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding
The childminder is exceptionally warm and caring and she has excellent relationships with children. She has very high expectations and encourages them to lead their play. For example, when children decided that they wanted to play in the water tray, the childminder waited until they had organised the resources and asked for water to fill it. Children poured water from one container to another and noticed that the water was not pouring out easily. The childminder challenged them to think of a solution, which prompted the children to see what happened if they used the teapot. Children extended their play and used their imaginative skills to make the childminder a cup of tea.
p.3
Outcomes for children are outstanding
Children learn an extremely wide range of skills that helps to prepare them effectively for their future learning and school. They are very imaginative, confident and exceptionally eager and keen to learn. Children think carefully about problems they encounter and work out how to solve them independently. For example, when they realised that the toys cars had gone under the sofa, they used familiar story characters, such as a man made from sticks, to help them get the cars out. Children pretended to thank the man made from sticks for his help and continued their play.
