This provision is good
Children make good progress relative to their starting points. The childminder's improved systems for observation and assessment help her to clearly identify children's progress and any gaps. She uses this information well to plan for their next steps in learning. Children are happy and confident, with good self-esteem. They behave well and show through their warm and affectionate relationships with the childminder that they feel emotionally secure. The childminder has strong relationships with parents and they share information about children's individual needs well. Good settling-in procedures are particularly effective in helping very young children quickly feel content and at home with the childminder. The childminder has worked hard since her last inspection to improve outcomes for children. Her self-evaluation is good and effectively shows how she has progressed, where there is room to develop, and what she plans to do to improve further.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not consistently provide children with a balance of adult-led activities and opportunities for child-initiated free play, to extend their skills through a wider range of activities. There are not enough opportunities for children to enjoy a wide variety of experiences and opportunities when in the garden, to extend their play and exploration across all areas.
p.1
What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the childminder and children engaged in learning activities indoors. The inspector read feedback from parents. The inspector talked to the childminder about how she monitors children's progress and plans for future learning. The inspector assessed the childminder's safeguarding knowledge and her understanding of how to implement appropriate procedures to protect children.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The childminder's improved tracking of children's progress has helped her to identify more precisely their stages of development and what they need to learn next. This enables the childminder to accurately assess children's development and plan interesting experiences. Improving her own understanding of how children communicate has helped the childminder to increase her skills and to support children's developing speech and language more effectively. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a thorough understanding of safeguarding procedures and what action to take to help her protect children from harm.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder uses her good knowledge of children effectively to engage them in interesting activities that challenge them well. Indoors, she organises resources well to encourage children to make their own choices about what they do and play with. Children explore and investigate with interest. The childminder communicates well with children and uses her skills effectively to extend their learning during activities. For example, very young children enjoyed using cars and the parking garage to explore 'up' and 'down' with the lift. The childminder asked them to show her how to make it work, asking simple questions to encourage them to use their developing language. The childminder provides regular opportunities for children to mix with larger groups of children, to help them develop confidence and social skills. The childminder involves parents well in their children's learning. For example, she uses information from them to help establish

children's starting points. She regularly discusses children's ongoing progress with parents and includes information about learning at home in her assessments.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children play in a safe environment indoors and outdoors. They are physically active and thoroughly enjoy moving and shaking their bodies as they join in action rhymes. Regular visits to parks and playgrounds with the childminder provide children with good opportunities to climb and learn to use large apparatus safely. Children learn about good health and hygiene practices. For example, they enjoy helping to feed and care for the childminder's pet rabbits, and carefully wash their hands when they have finished.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children develop the key skills they need to be ready for the next stage in their learning. They become confident and independent. When mixing with other groups of children, they develop good social skills, such as how to share and take turns, and listen to each other. This helps to prepare children well for when it is time to move on to school.
