p.2

Effectiveness of the leadership and management is outstanding

The childminder develops strong, well-informed partnerships with parents and professionals. Her commitment to professional development is reflected in the high quality of the provision. She uses and shares her increasing knowledge in her practice, leading to excellent outcomes for children. Children's safety is a very high priority. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder's safeguarding knowledge is up to date. She knows the procedures to follow if she has concerns for a child's welfare. Children learn about safe behaviour in all activities. The childminder supervises children very closely and manages risks highly effectively.

p.3

Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding

This highly stimulating environment inspires children to explore and experiment. Children's development is assessed exceptionally well. The childminder skilfully uses literature, information from parents and detailed observations to identify the progress children are making. This enables her to quickly identify any gaps and strengths in children's progress. The childminder encourages children's language knowledgeably, posing questions and listening intently for responses. She uses every opportunity for children to develop their skills and interests. For example, they look at the colours and textures of fruit, while the childminder encourages them to prepare the fruit to eat. Occasionally, young children do not sit in the most stable position to achieve good hand-to-eye coordination in their activities.

p.3

Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding

Exemplary care is taken to support children's personal development, welfare and behaviour. The childminder is extremely adaptable when working with families to meet their individual preferences, such as sleep routines, toilet training and feeding. She understands and responds to the individuality of each child. The childminder takes great care to develop children's understanding of a healthy lifestyle from an early age. For example, they take part in a wide range of physical activities and local visits, developing their physical skills in the fresh air and natural light. This supports a sense of well-being.

p.3

Outcomes for children are outstanding

Children are exceptionally well prepared for the next stage in their education. They develop an excellent knowledge of the world around them in the community and outdoors. For example, children of different ages experiment with textures as they make bird feeders, and experiment with sand and water. They freely explore the woodland area, and use wheeled toys with increasing skill. Children learn how to solve problems as, for example, they use natural materials to build and create. Children quickly extend their single words into sentences as their communication skills rapidly develop.
