p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:

Inspection activities
The inspector had a tour of the areas used for childminding. The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities indoors and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector completed a joint observation with the childminder. The inspector looked at relevant documentation, such as the childminder's self- evaluation, children's learning records, and a selection of policies and procedures. The inspector took account of written records of parents' views.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder assesses risks to children and takes steps to make sure the environment is safe and secure. The childminder has a good awareness of the signs and symptoms of abuse so that she can recognise when a child may be at risk. She is familiar with the procedures to follow should she have any concerns about a child. A range of policies to promote children's safety and well-being is in place, helping to ensure their safety. Overall, the childminder reflects on her practice well and takes into account the views of parents and children in bringing about improvements. The action and recommendation from the last inspection have been addressed.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
Children benefit from high-quality interactions with the childminder which help to extend their learning. She models language and helps them to learn new words and encourages them to explain their ideas clearly. Children enjoy activities, such as making a robot out of cardboard boxes and other materials. Children learn counting skills and they count how many blocks they use to make a tower. They enjoy collecting leaves, and matching and sorting them helps develop their early mathematical skills. Older children's learning is extended and they learn to identify trees from the leaves they have collected.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder establishes warm, caring relationships with the children in her care. They respond to her positive approach, which helps to build their confidence and self-esteem. Children show a strong sense of security in the childminder's home. They learn to be independent as they select their own toys and help to tidy up. The childminder helps children to understand the importance of healthy lifestyles and healthy eating. For example, she explains sensitively why children have fruit rather than sugary foods for their snack. Children learn about each other's similarities and differences. They learn about different cultural events and use a variety of resources that reflects different cultures and backgrounds.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children make good progress from their starting points. They learn to be confident and independent. Children are keen to learn. Their communication skills are developing well and they express themselves clearly. Children enjoy books and develop an interest in reading. They are supported to use the broad range of books available. They learn to listen well and to cooperate with others. Children are well prepared for their transfer to school.
