This provision is good
The childminder provides a stimulating and well-resourced environment for children. They independently make choices about their play, which builds on their confidence. The childminder has developed secure and warm attachments with children. They receive frequent praise and encouragement, effectively promoting their self-esteem. Children are well supported to meet their full potential in relation to their learning. The childminder uses her observations to carefully plan what children need to learn next. Following reflection on her practice, the childminder has successfully made adaptations to the service she offers in order to meet the needs of children and their families to improve outcomes. Children are given ample opportunity to learn about being healthy. They experience daily outdoor play to support their physical well-being. They are also offered healthy meals, snacks and plenty of water to drink.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not yet seek the views of parents and carers in self-evaluation, in order for them to make suggestions about future improvements. Parents and carers are not fully involved in their children's learning and development beyond first assessments. This means there may be missed opportunities to further support children's progress.

What the setting needs to do to improve further

develop methods to gather parental views to support self-evaluation and future plans for improvements consider and implement systems to involve parents in their children's ongoing development through sharing information about learning.
p.2
Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities indoors, and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector held discussions with the childminder and children at appropriate times during the inspection. The inspector looked at relevant documentation, such as children's portfolios, policies and evidence of the suitability of the childminder and other adults living in the home. The inspector viewed the areas of the childminder's home used when caring for children.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder is aware of the signs and symptoms of abuse and current issues that may need referring. She is clear on what to do should she have a concern about a child's welfare. The childminder understands local procedures and what to do should an allegation be made against her or a member of her family. Self-evaluation is used well. The childminder reflects on her practice, making changes and improvements that will have a positive impact on children's learning. She has recently made plans to develop hygiene routines to encourage more independence and organisation when additional children start in her care. The childminder has kept up to date with changes to legislation and has a targeted plan when it comes to professional development. Courses are identified to support the individual needs of children and to raise the quality of teaching.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
Teaching is good. Children are making very quick progress from their starting points. Observations, monitoring and assessment show how children are moving on with their progress. This enables the childminder to plan for their future learning and address any emerging gaps. The childminder follows children's interests, incorporating them into activities to support learning. Children learn early mathematical skills by counting and learning about colours at every opportunity. They thread beads, post letters and match paints to coloured pots. Children are speaking and communicating extremely well. The childminder supports good grammar and pronunciation by talking clearly and confidently to children, and taking time to give explanations. Positive interactions from the childminder further support children's language acquisition. The childminder skilfully adapts activities to support learning while following the children's interests. Threading

beads quickly turns into cooking spaghetti and the childminder utilises this to encourage new words and to build confidence. Children's understanding of the world they live in is developing well. The childminder takes the opportunity to discuss recycling when the refuse truck comes to collect rubbish.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children enjoy daily physical activity and exercise. They have access to an outdoor play area. Children are given the opportunity to develop their large-muscle skills and social skills further by attending various groups and places of interest. Positive routines are embedded into practice. Children independently wash their hands from an early age following creative activities, before and after meals. They help the childminder to tidy away their toys before choosing their next activity. This supports the children to recognise the importance of respecting the resources and others. Children behave well and consistently use their manners.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children are confident and motivated learners. They take control of their play and are independent. Children are ready for the next stage in their learning. They are happy in the care of the childminder and enjoy their learning experiences.
