This provision is good
The childminder is highly attentive and meets children's care needs extremely well. Children develop a very strong sense of belonging in the childminder's home. The childminder works effectively in partnership with parents. She shares information well and provides good continuity of care. Parents comment that they are very happy with the care their children receive. Children behave exceptionally well. They know from an early age to share, be kind and to respect others. The childminder is a highly positive role model. She has a consistent and caring approach. The childminder provides a highly stimulating environment and a wealth of resources and activities that entice and motivate children to learn. All children make good progress from their starting points. The childminder reflects effectively on the quality of her service and accurately identifies areas for ongoing improvement.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not always use what she knows about children to plan precisely for their individual next steps, to help them make even better progress.
p.1
What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:
p.2
What the setting needs to do to improve further
develop further the planning of activities to reflect the next steps in children's individual learning as precisely as possible.
p.2
Inspection activities
The inspector viewed all areas of the premises available for children's use. The inspector observed children talking part in activities indoors and outdoors, and observed the childminder's interaction with children. The inspector completed a joint observation with the childminder and spoke to the childminder at appropriate times during the inspection. The inspector sampled documentation the childminder uses to support her practices, including systems for self-evaluation. The inspector took account of written feedback from parents.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has recently attended safeguarding training. She has a secure understanding of her role and responsibilities and the steps to take in the event of a child protection issue. The childminder has made improvements since the last inspection. She has developed the programme of activities. For example, she has increased opportunities for children to explore a variety of textures. She uses research to help her keep up to date with requirements. The childminder demonstrates a commitment to making further improvements. She recognises the importance of developing a shared approached to children's learning and development when children attend more than one setting.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder observes children and monitors their progress to identify gaps in their learning. She supports children's language development effectively. The childminder engages well during children's play. For example, she asks questions to encourage children to share their ideas and name what they see. The childminder also introduces colours, sizes, shapes and numbers skilfully as children build towers. Children thoroughly enjoy engaging in imaginary play. For example, they manoeuvre toy vehicles and pretend to be the station master. Children are confident to approach the childminder for support. The childminder encourages children to try to do things for themselves, while staying close by to offer support.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding
Children are extremely happy and confident in the childminder's care. The childminder gives lots of encouragement and praise. Children develop excellent levels of self-esteem. They have superb opportunities to learn how to stay safe. For example, they understand the reason for holding hands when they go out, and they learn how to play safely in the home. Children develop a highly secure understanding of healthy lifestyles. They grow their own vegetables in the outdoor area and enjoy eating these as part of a healthy well- balanced diet. Children participate in a wealth of physical activities, including trips to the river, the park and playing football. The childminder is well organised and provides a stimulating environment where children make choices and develop their independence.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
All children make good progress. They are eager, confident learners and develop the skills required for the next stage in their learning and eventual move on to school. Even the youngest children learn to make decisions, explore their own ideas and develop independence. For example, they develop confidence in dressing themselves.
