This provision is good
The childminder uses accurate observations and assessments to monitor children's development and to help them make good progress in relation to their starting points. Children form very close and trusting relationships with the childminder. They explore confidently and share laughter and affection with her and the other children. The childminder creates inviting play areas for children, with a good range of exciting learning experiences. For example, she helps children to learn about the natural world through observing the life cycles of frogs and butterflies. The childminder engages in regular professional development to extend her knowledge and support children's learning. For example, she has attended training to help encourage children's early handwriting skills.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
On occasions, the childminder does not give children time to respond to her questions to encourage them to think and to support their speech and language skills. The childminder does not consistently obtain information from parents about all aspects of children's development to help track and plan their experiences even more accurately from the outset.

What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

Inspection activities
The inspector observed activities and the quality of the childminder's interaction with the children. The inspector observed the management of children's care routines. The inspector looked at children's assessment records. The inspector sampled the childminder's documentation and discussed her knowledge of the requirements of the early years foundation stage. The inspector took account of the views of parents.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a secure understanding of her role and responsibility to support children's welfare and to protect them from harm. She monitors the quality of her provision successfully. For example, she reflects on the activities she provides to evaluate the impact of these on children's enjoyment and learning. The childminder has taken steps to address the recommendations from the previous inspection. For example, she provides children with props to use when they sing number songs to engage them better as they learn. She has also made photograph books of the community and displays photographs of children to help them learn about one another's lives.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder keeps parents informed of children's progress and the activities she plans each term to help them achieve their next steps for learning. She challenges children skilfully in their chosen activities to help them progress well. She encourages children to count, name shapes and to recognise numerals to support their mathematical development in their chosen activities. The childminder uses her good teaching skills to capture and maintain children's interest. For example, she reads favourite stories using different voices which children laugh at. She helps them to learn new words by looking at the pictures and encourages them to join in to develop their interest in books.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder provides a very warm and welcoming environment for children. She prioritises children's safety. She continually reviews and adapts play areas to ensure children can explore freely and to keep them safe in all areas of her provision. The childminder contributes to children's health and physical development well. She follows consistent routines to ensure they sleep well, enjoy healthy mealtimes and join in lots of outdoor play. The childminder provides children with clear guidance about how to keep themselves safe in her home and on outings, such as learning about road safety on walks.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children make good progress and develop key skills for their future learning and move on to school. For example, they develop positive attitudes and learn to manage tasks for themselves to support their confidence and independence. Children explore with interest and engage well in their play. They create their own games confidently and take pride in their own achievements.
