This provision is good
Children are very happy and settle well. They form a strong bond with the childminder and develop good relationships with their friends as they learn to share and take turns. Children are well behaved and they understand routines and expectations. The childminder has improved her practice and the overall quality of the provision since her last inspection. She has addressed all previous actions. She sees professional development as a priority. For example, she attends training and uses this to help her evaluate her practice and make improvements for children. Children enjoy a broad range of enjoyable and challenging activities that help them to make good progress. The childminder makes effective use of her outdoor play space to provide a wide range of physical activities and learning experiences, offering children a choice of how and where they play. The childminder provides a welcoming, safe and secure environment where children

It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder's procedures for tracking children's progress are not fully established to help her promptly identify gaps in children's learning and when a child may need additional support. The childminder sometimes misses opportunities for children to start to identify letters and link these to the sounds they make.

extend monitoring systems to help track children's progress even more accurately increase opportunities for children to start to link letters and sounds.
p.2
Inspection activities
The inspector observed activities in the childminder's setting. The inspector spoke to the childminder and children at appropriate times during the inspection. The inspector looked at children's records and a sample of other documentation, including policies and procedures. The inspector took account of the written feedback from parents.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder has a good understanding of child protection procedures and how to recognise concerns about children's welfare. She is proactive in looking for ways to improve her quality of teaching. She attends regular training and links with early years professionals to help her gain new skills and implement these into her practice. For example, she uses strategies learned through training to extend children's understanding and use of language as they play. The childminder involves parents well in children's learning. She frequently shares information about the progress children make and the next steps in their learning, helping parents to be more involved at home.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder has a good awareness of how children learn and develop. She supports children effectively in making good progress through enjoyable and challenging activities. She plans well for children's learning, making good use of her ongoing assessments. The childminder is constantly involved as children play to extend their learning further. For example, she names the shapes and patterns they make as they use chalks on the board and to label the play cars outside. Children's interest in songs and rhymes is supported well. For example, as they select a toy bus from the special song box, they spontaneously start to sing about the wheels on the bus, and enthusiastically join in with the actions.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder monitors safety effectively and follows successful procedures to help support children's welfare. She supervises children well and constantly reviews safety arrangements to help minimise risks. Children learn how to keep themselves safe, such as road safety. They engage in enjoyable games that support their physical development and teach them about following rules. For example, a game of hide-and-seek helps them to move their bodies around obstacles and gain a good awareness of space. The childminder carefully follows children's routines, helping them to feel safe and secure. She provides play opportunities to help prepare children for new experiences, such as providing a pretend medical kit to prepare children for a visit to the doctor.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children develop the skills they need to prepare them well for the next stage in their learning. For example, they learn how to use books, pointing to objects to help them tell the stories. They often use counting as they play, and they start to identify numerals as they use them in games such as hopscotch. Children are confident and increasingly independent. For example, they use forks and spoons along with their hands as they enjoy their lunch. Children make good progress based on their individual starting points.
