This provision is good
The childminder has a good knowledge of children's individual needs. She plans activities that successfully motivate and challenge children. Children make good progress from their starting points. The childminder shows continuous commitment to improve her knowledge and skills. For instance, she has recently completed a relevant qualification, shares good practice ideas with other childminders and completes her own research. The childminder is very responsive to children's needs. She offers comfort and reassurance to children when required and supports children's emotional well-being effectively. Children form positive relationships with her and settle quickly into her care. Partnerships with parents are strong. The regular two-way flow of information provides consistency for children and helps parents to support their children's learning at home.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not make the most of all opportunities to consistently develop children's understanding of good hygiene routines. Children have few opportunities to explore technology, to fully support their understanding of the world.

Inspection activities
The inspector had a tour of the areas used for childminding. The inspector observed the childminder and children during play and discussed children's development with the childminder during a joint observation. The inspector examined a sample of policies, documents and children's records. The inspector read feedback from parents to gain their views. The inspector discussed the childminder's self-evaluation process.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a thorough knowledge of how to keep children safe. She knows the safeguarding procedures to follow in the event of concerns about a child's welfare, including if an allegation was made against her or a member of her household. The childminder values the feedback she receives from parents and children. She uses the information she gains to guide improvements to her teaching practice and to help improve outcomes for children. The childminder monitors the progress children make and shares her findings with parents to help involve them in their children's learning.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder completes regular observations and assessments of children's learning. She uses the information from these to plan challenging and enjoyable activities that support children's continued progress. Children develop a good awareness of early mathematics. The childminder incorporates mathematics into children's play at every opportunity. For example, children roll dice and move their bodies according to the number of dots. They count eggs during a cooking activity and discuss different shapes. Children learn about differences and similarities between themselves and others. For instance, the childminder helps children to think about the different features people have as they draw faces together. The childminder uses opportunities to support children's communication and language skills effectively. For example, she repeats new words and encourages children to share their thoughts and ideas to develop their thinking.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder gives children lots of praise and encouragement. Children display raised levels of self-esteem and join in activities well. The childminder provides good opportunities for children to develop their social skills. For instance, at group times they learn to mix with others. Children enjoy healthy foods and join in discussions about how certain food is good for them. The childminder supports children's physical well-being effectively. Children have daily opportunities for fresh air and exercise. They behave well and learn to respect the environment and each other. The childminder helps children learn to keep themselves safe. For example, children know that they must leave the house if there is a fire and that a fire engine will come to put it out.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children make good progress from their starting points. They enjoy looking at books and develop an interest in early writing. Children display confidence in their abilities and good independence skills. For instance, they learn to put on their shoes and enjoy helping to complete tasks.
