This provision is good
The childminder provides a wealth of opportunities for children to develop their physical skills. For example, young children find safe pathways when they push the toy shopping trolley and stop their ride-on car safely to avoid collisions. There is effective support for children's emotional well-being. Children form strong relationships with the childminder and build close friendships with their peers. The childminder uses her observations and assessments effectively to plan a stimulating range of activities. She supports children to make good progress from their starting points. The childminder makes good use of visits and toddler groups to support children's social interactions. Children are keen to explore nature and to learn about people and their communities. The childminder evaluates her provision effectively. She networks well with other childminders and early years advisers to support her practice and develop her skills.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
On occasion, the childminder does not recognise when to encourage children to persist a little longer with activities to develop confidence in attempting to overcome challenges. The childminder does not always encourage parents to provide information about their children's learning at home to help support her planning of activities.
p.1
What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

p.2
Inspection activities
The inspector observed the childminder's interactions with children as they played in the home and in the garden. The inspector sampled a range of documentation, including children's assessment records, the childminder's self-evaluation and her policies and procedures. The inspector considered the written views of parents. The inspector spoke with the childminder about her understanding of the early years foundation stage requirements. The inspector and the childminder jointly evaluated the impact of teaching on outcomes for children.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder securely maintains all required information, written and electronically, to underpin children's well-being. The childminder knows what to do if she has concerns about a child's welfare and has good awareness of the possible signs. There are effective systems to share information with other early years settings and health professionals to support a joint approach to children's care, learning and development. The childminder makes good use of self-evaluation to improve the provision. She has recently made considerable changes to the outdoor provision, including providing speaking tubes to support children's communication and language skills further.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
Overall, the childminder has a good knowledge of the children in her care and plans stimulating activities to encourage their learning, confidence and self-motivation. She helps develop children's communication and language skills effectively. Young children become actively involved in songs, participating in the familiar rhymes. For example, they pretend to move frogs in and out of a pond in response to instructions. Children thoroughly enjoy sharing books together. They know which buttons to press on electronic books to make the appropriate animal noise, showing their understanding of how things work. The childminder encourages children to play cooperatively. For example, they take turns and share the farmyard animals as they match the object to the sound and picture successfully.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder organises the environment well to help children settle quickly. They make choices about their play from a wide range of age-appropriate resources. Children are helpful and keen to include their friends. For example, they eagerly fetch drinks to share with their friends, building secure relationships in readiness for school. Children show pride in their achievements. For example, when they successfully push the ride-on car to the top of the slope they cheer and clap. Children become familiar with the childminder's good hygienic practices from an early age. For example, as soon as the childminder mentions that it is snack time they know to wash their hands.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children develop good skills for their next stages of learning and eventual move to school. They listen carefully and follow instructions, for example, to put a specific amount of balls into their shopping trolley as they develop their counting skills. Children develop good independence. For example, they are keen to have a go at putting their shoes on and wait patiently for help.
