The childminder has an excellent understanding of the learning and development requirements and very high expectations for children's achievement. Children make outstanding progress. The childminder carries out very thorough risk assessments and places excellent attention on ensuring that children play safely and are kept free from harm. The childminder plans many opportunities for parents to be fully involved in their children's learning. Inspection activities
The inspector observed activities in the childminder's home, indoors and in the garden. The inspector spoke with the childminder and children at appropriate times throughout the inspection and jointly evaluated the impact of activities with the childminder. The inspector looked at children's records and planning, and discussed the childminder's policies and procedures. The inspector took account of the written views of parents.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is outstanding
The childminder is extremely motivated and has high expectations for children's achievements. She makes excellent use of her existing skills and knowledge and constantly reflects on her professional development. She attends meetings and training courses to develop her knowledge even further. For example, she has improved children's opportunities to be creative and use their imagination using recycling materials indoors and outdoors. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder is very confident in her understanding of child protection matters and how to report any concerns to safeguard children. She maintains all of the required documentation to a very high standard.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding
The childminder is an inspirational teacher. She meticulously assesses children's progress, plans for their future learning and uses highly effective teaching methods. For example, as children design and build models, she makes suggestions, demonstrates tasks, asks questions and helps them to solve problems. Children make superb progress in mathematics. They learn numbers, shapes and colours, and explore measurement. They also begin to add and subtract, make patterns and use a wealth of mathematical language. The childminder knows when to stand back and when to step in to challenge children's thought processes and learning even further. Opportunities for children to explore technology are not quite as exemplary as other areas of learning.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding
The childminder successfully educates children to help them follow a healthy lifestyle. Children make very good progress in their physical development. For example, they develop large movements as they dance to music, and negotiate space reversing a tractor around obstacles. Children eat healthily, follow very good hygiene routines and become independent in their toileting. Children's views are valued, for example, they are very involved in setting the rules. They learn good manners and play exceedingly well together. Children are extremely proud and confident as, for example, they sing in their home language and excitedly chat about photographs of their family and holidays.
p.3
Outcomes for children are outstanding
All children make rapid progress in their learning, including those who are learning to speak English as an additional language. They develop excellent skills in communication, language and literacy. They explore letters and the sounds they make, show a very keen interest in written words in books and their environment. Children develop a high level of independence; for example, they put on their aprons and help to prepare snacks. The childminder helps children to make exceptional progress. They are superbly prepared for the next stage in their education.
