The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder has a robust understanding of child protection procedures. She understands what to do should she be concerned that a child is being abused. The childminder uses comprehensive methods to rigorously check the quality of provision and children's progress. She is eager to undertake regular training and professional development, which leads to improvements in teaching. Following training, the childminder understands how children learn through play and plans fun and stimulating experiences that they thoroughly enjoy. The childminder establishes strong and respectful partnership working with parents. She encourages parents to contribute towards children's learning, both in the setting and at home. This promotes children's ongoing progress and helps prepare them for future learning.

p.3

Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good

The lively and animated childminder uses a range of skills to enthuse children in their learning. She tunes in well to children's communications and provides babies with a running commentary as they play. She introduces new words to older children and asks questions to check their understanding. The childminder uses detailed observations and makes accurate assessments of children's learning and progress. She uses this information to plan for what each child needs to learn next. Children enjoy exploring the information and communication technology toys and listening to the different sounds they make. They keep on trying as they manipulate the construction toys and experiment how to attach the pieces together. Children are developing the skills and attitudes to promote future learning.

This helps children to feel valued and promotes their self-confidence and self-esteem. The childminder provides healthy meals and lots of opportunities for children to practise their physical skills. Children go on regular outings within the community and explore their surroundings. They thoroughly enjoy their time at the childminder's home.

p.3
