This provision is good
The childminder uses the information from her observations and assessments well to help her plan for children's next stage in their learning. Children make good progress and, in some areas, develop better than expectations for their age. They are happy and enjoy their time with the childminder. The childminder provides regular opportunities to involve parents in their children's learning. For example, she provides parents with access to an electronic system and communicates through daily discussions, telephone calls and texts. This helps parents to be fully involved and to continue their children's learning at home. The childminder helps children learn how to manage their behaviour. For instance, she distracts them with other activities when needed and encourages them to share and take turns. This helps children learn to behave well. Children learn to keep themselves safe. For example, they practise emergency

evacuation procedures with the childminder.

It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not always give children enough time to think through and solve the problems they encounter in their play. The childminder does not make the most of opportunities to help children learn about each other's backgrounds and diversity.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching and the impact this has on the children's learning and development. The inspector viewed all of the premises used for childminding. The inspector viewed a range of documentation, including suitability checks and parents' written comments. The inspector held discussions with the childminder at appropriate times throughout the inspection. The inspector spoke to children and discussed the childminder's practice with her.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a secure understanding of the signs that would cause her concern about a child's welfare and the processes to follow. She attends regular training, which helps her to improve her knowledge and skills. The childminder monitors children's progress and works with other professionals to provide children with the extra support needed for them to catch up. She has effective procedures to evaluate and reflect on her practice and provision. For example, she uses the views of children, parents and other professionals to help her make improvements and raise outcomes for children. The childminder knows how to work with other settings that children attend. This helps to provide a consistent approach in meeting children's learning and development needs.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder knows individual children well and how to support their learning and development. She builds on their mathematical knowledge to extend their development. For example, the childminder encourages children to count and recognise what number comes next. She sensitively supports children to make connections in their play. For instance, the childminder places pom-poms on top of a bottle to encourage younger children to use their fingers and hand-eye coordination to push them in. This helps to build their confidence and physical skills. The childminder supports children's literacy learning well. For example, she provides children with pens and pads to use in their play.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder supports children's emotional well-being effectively. For example, she uses mirrors for children to look at themselves and discuss their feelings when they express they feel sad. The childminder helps children learn about healthy lifestyles. For instance, she talks to them during mealtimes about eating their sandwiches so they have enough energy to run around after lunch. She provides daily opportunities for children to be physically active, which helps to support their physical well-being. The childminder helps children to develop good levels of self-esteem and confidence. For example, children receive lots of praise and encouragement and they learn that their views are of value and important.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children develop good physical, communication and language skills. For instance, younger children confidently take their first steps and learn to use their voices to communicate through babbling. Older children make marks on paper and hold a conversation, talking about their experiences. All children prepare well for their future learning and their move to school or nursery.
