This provision is outstanding

 Leadership and management are inspirational. The proprietors show great passion, enthusiasm and determination to provide local families with the very best early years experience. This has a great impact on staff who also work tirelessly in their pursuit for excellence.  The standard of teaching is exceptional and worthy of dissemination to others. Staff are highly qualified and use their skills effectively to plan a rich and stimulating environment where children never tire of investigating and exploring. Children make swift progress from their starting points.  Children thoroughly enjoy their time at nursery. They demonstrate a high level of confidence as they independently follow their own interests or join in with adult-led activities with their friends. Older children prepare for their move to school, enthusiastically learning about letters and sounds while younger children delight in singing songs and learning rhymes.

p.1

This provision is outstanding

 Monitoring of children's progress is meticulous. The proprietor and manager have excellent procedures in place to determine where children need more support and what staff can do to make a difference. Children receiving extra funding benefit especially from these diligent measures and the impact on children's learning is already seen in specific areas, such as mathematics.  Staff supervision is highly effective in striving for excellence and helping everyone to sustain the outstanding skills and knowledge demonstrated. Staff continually evaluate what they do and reflect on current childcare practices to ensure children benefit from the very best teaching and care.

Inspection activities

 The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities indoors and outdoors, and assessed the impact this has on children's learning.  The inspector completed a joint observation with the proprietor/senior manager.  The inspector held a meeting with the proprietors. She looked at relevant documentation, such as the nursery's self-evaluation and evidence of the suitability of staff working in the nursery.  The inspector spoke to a small selection of parents during the inspection and took account of their views.

p.2

Effectiveness of the leadership and management is outstanding

The providers and staff team show a genuine dedication to their roles and want only the very best for all children. Self-evaluation is embedded in practice and ensures improvements accurately reflect the needs of children attending. For example, currently there are excellent plans to further improve the outside area to enhance learning for those children who prefer this environment. Recruitment procedures are robust and only the very best candidates are successful in joining the well-qualified staff team. Training opportunities are welcomed by all and are sharply focused to give staff even more skills and knowledge to support the children they care for. The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. Stringent policies are in place and staff are knowledgeable about identifying and reporting any concerns they may have about a child's welfare.

p.3

Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding

Children thrive at the nursery. They benefit from a knowledgeable and highly skilled staff team that truly enjoys its work. Children have opportunities to learn about their local community as they make visits to the shops or take walks to gather resources, such as sticks and twigs, to be used in future activities. They take their pet rabbits on bus rides to the nearest vet's surgery to ensure they are in the best of health. In doing so, they learn about the care of animals and other skills, such as how to stay safe when out and about. At nursery, staff help children to become absorbed in their activities by playing alongside and happily taking participating in children's imaginary games. Together they put on hard hats and florescent tabards to become builders. Children emulate the three little pigs by making houses from bricks and puzzle out how best to fix each one together. Young children practise early writing by making marks and deciding how best to decorate their

pictures. Staff use words, such as circle and rectangle to describe the shapes they are drawing, which introduce young children to mathematical language at an early age.

p.3

Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding

Staff demonstrate great sensitively and respect as they support even the youngest child to gain independence in their self-help skills, such as toileting. Children know routines well and are especially knowledgeable about healthy eating. For example, children know that chocolate spread sandwiches are not as good for them as cheese or ham. Children behave exceptionally well because staff are quick to skilfully distract and refocus children, when necessary. Staff sensitively support older children in extending their ability to participate in group activities. They learn to concentrate for longer periods of time as they prepare for similar routines and expectations at school.

p.3

Outcomes for children are outstanding

Children have every opportunity to make rapid progress at the nursery. They are enthusiastic and motivated learners who have the skills needed for their move to school. Children communicate well and those learning English as an additional language make excellent progress in their abilities while at nursery. Overall, the nursery provides memorable, high-quality experiences for all who attend.
