This monitoring visit

This monitoring visit took place following concerns raised with Ofsted. On 24 July 2016, significant damage was caused to the home. This resulted in young people having to be temporarily moved to other homes in the organisation. Ofsted were assured that placing authorities were aware of and consented to these emergency measures.

p.2

This monitoring visit

Extensive damage was caused to the home that resulted in flooding to communal areas. The organisation took immediate action to rectify this. Ofsted sought advice from the local authority building regulations office on this matter during the inspection. Initially, there was some confusion as to the appropriate certification required to ensure the electrical system was safe. This took some days to resolve. The children did not return to the property until this had happened.

p.2

This monitoring visit

Staffing levels remain lower than required. The rota shows that there are gaps for forthcoming shifts and there is, to date, no available cover for some shifts. This has the potential to impact on the safety and welfare of young people in the home. There are staff shortages in the home. The responsible individual has confirmed to Ofsted that robust plans are in place to address these issues. However, there remains uncertainty in the staff team about who is covering shifts. This has the potential to affect young people and the care that they receive.

p.2

This monitoring visit

During this visit, no young people were in the home or planning to return until all areas were certified as safe.

p.2

This monitoring visit

There are two requirements resulting from this visit. These relate to ensuring that the environment is safe for young people and that there are sufficient staff working in the home.
