This provision is outstanding
The childminder has an expert understanding of how children learn and makes superb use of every opportunity to build on what they know and can do. She engages children very skilfully through her excellent interaction and planned activities, which helps them to make outstanding progress in their development. Children are highly enthusiastic and gain exceptional skills in preparation for school. The childminder communicates extremely effectively with parents. For instance, she skilfully involves them to regularly share children's key achievements at home, enabling them to work very closely together to meet children's individual needs very well. Children are very active and successful learners. The childminder establishes incredibly close relationships with children. She provides highly nurturing care and gives children her full attention. Children settle in very quickly, and demonstrate very high levels of confidence and security.
p.1
This provision is outstanding
The childminder rigorously evaluates her practice and targets areas for development extremely well. For example, her initial assessment of children when they first attend was taking too long, so she adapted her process to gain in-depth information from parents about children's learning needs and next steps. This has enabled her to plan highly challenging and targeted activities from the start.

Inspection activities
The inspector viewed the resources and learning environment, and observed the interactions between the childminder and children. The inspector observed a planned activity and discussed this with the childminder. The inspector took account of the views of children, and their parents' written feedback. The inspector held meetings with the childminder at appropriate times during the inspection. The inspector sampled documentation, including children's learning records, qualification and training certificates, and policies and procedures.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is outstanding
The childminder very successfully changes her practices to benefit children greatly. She focuses sharply on her quality of teaching, to ensure changes always improve children's outcomes. For example, she recognises the need to continue children's creativity and imaginative learning more when outdoors. The childminder proactively gains new ideas and skills to extend her professional development. For instance, she has completed training that has helped her to make even better use of resources and the environment. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a thorough knowledge of the procedures to follow that enable her to protect children's welfare. Her meticulous monitoring of children's progress very successfully supports their continuous development.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding
The childminder is very clear about children's individual learning and plans highly stimulating activities that engage them. For example, she provided a tray of brightly coloured pasta to help children recognise colours. She very skilfully encouraged them to identify, sort and thread the pasta, enabling them to experiment, persevere and achieve. The childminder adapted this extremely well for younger children to explore the sensation of pasta under their feet and rattle it in pots. The childminder extends children's communication and language skills exceptionally well. For example, she talks clearly and listens intently to what children say, to encourage discussions. The childminder helps children learn about other cultures very well. For instance, they visited a Chinese supermarket and tried the different foods they bought.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding
Children benefit substantially from the childminder's excellent and calm modelling of how to play, care and learn happily together. Superbly planned, consistent routines significantly contribute to their excellent behaviour and impressive levels of independence. For example, from a young age, children skilfully dress themselves, help to make their own lunch and pour their own drinks, without little input and help from the childminder. The childminder expertly builds children's confidence. She helps them to feel a great sense of pride as they learn what makes them special and unique, such as helping them to recognise their similarities and differences with their friends and characters from stories.
p.3
Outcomes for children are outstanding
Children thrive in the childminder's care and rapidly acquire the key skills they need in readiness for their future learning. Children are highly confident communicators. They have an eager and extremely enthusiastic attitude towards learning. For example, they frequently ask the childminder to read to them. All children, including the youngest, remain fully engaged throughout, showing their keen interest in books.
