This provision is good
The childminder has taken appropriate steps to address the issues raised at her last inspection. She has welcomed advice and support from the local authority to make changes and develop the service she provides. Children's use and understanding of the English language are continually developing. They meet with other children to share experiences, access books and enjoy singing a variety of songs and rhymes. Children enjoy being physically active and spend time outdoors each day. They enjoy a variety of activities and resources to develop their coordination and physical abilities. The childminder has clear procedures in place for building partnerships and sharing information with other early years professionals involved in children's lives. Good communication between professionals and parents supports continuity of care and learning for children. Children remain safe. They play in a secure environment and the childminder is vigilant

in maintaining their safety and well-being.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
Opportunities for older children to develop their awareness of technology and how things work are not yet established. While the childminder has completed mandatory training, she has not looked at a broader range of professional development opportunities to enhance her knowledge even further.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities indoors and outdoors, and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector observed an activity and discussed teaching methods with the childminder. The inspector looked at relevant documentation, such as the childminder's self- evaluation and evidence of the suitability of adults within the home. The inspector spoke to a parent who was present during the inspection and took account of the written views of parents.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder is fully aware of her role in protecting children from abuse and neglect. She is knowledgeable of the signs of abuse and the procedure to follow to report any concerns she may have about a child's welfare. Suitability checks for assistants are completed and the childminder makes them aware of any changes or new information. She works closely with her co-childminder and assistants to plan for children's individual needs. Risk assessments are made of the environment and any outings, and action is taken to minimise hazards. The childminder works closely with parents and talks with them every day to ensure they are kept informed of their child's learning and achievements. Parents speak positively of the service they and their children receive.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder observes, assesses and plans alongside her co-childminder for the individual learning needs of the children. Activities take account of each child's future learning needs and are adapted for the individual abilities of the children. Resources are easily accessible and support children's learning. Children enjoy being creative. For example, they use a variety of paint pens to decorate t-shirts with pictures of fish. Children engage well in the activities and concentrate and persevere when completing different puzzles. The childminder offers support and praise when children successfully complete them. Children enjoy moving their bodies to music and join in with action songs and rhymes. They use these songs to develop their numeracy skills, singing songs that include adding and taking away different characters and counting how many are left.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children are confident and relaxed and settle quickly into their play. The childminder keeps parents informed of their child's day and the activities they have been involved in. Children rest and sleep as they need to and their care needs are known and incorporated into the day. Children learn about diversity and the wider world. They access resources that reflect positive images of society and are actively involved in cultural events at the groups they attend. Children enjoy walks in the local area, building their awareness of the local community. Behaviour is good. Children are respectful towards others, use their manners well and share the toys. The childminder promotes healthy lifestyles. Children enjoy foods that take account of their individual dietary needs and are freshly prepared each day. Children choose if they wish to play in the garden each day and enjoy visiting local parks and places of interest, broadening their understanding of the world around
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children make good progress. They develop their independence and make choices with regard to their play. Children develop their self-help skills, becoming confident in addressing their personal care needs. They make marks and develop their early writing skills. Children enjoy looking at books alone, with their peers or with the childminder. They are well prepared for the next steps in their learning.
