This provision is good
The childminder forms strong bonds with children and supports their emotional development well. Children become confident and explore the activities on offer with enthusiasm. Partnerships with parents are strong. The childminder successfully involves parents in their child's learning, providing good consistency for children's ongoing development. For example, the childminder asks parents about what children are achieving at home. The childminder provides good support for children's learning during activities and routines. She monitors children's learning thoroughly and uses her knowledge and skills effectively, helping the children to make good progress from their starting points. Children enjoy a wide range of learning experiences. For example, they benefit from regular outings to beaches and parks, where they improve their understanding of the natural world, while having fresh air and fun.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not always challenge children to talk about their ideas and extend their thinking during activities. There are not many opportunities for children to see print in the environment to fully support and encourage their early reading skills further.
p.1
What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

What the setting needs to do to improve further

p.2
Inspection activities
The inspector observed the childminder engaged in activities with the children. The inspector spoke to the childminder and children at appropriate times during the inspection. The inspector and childminder observed the children during an activity and completed a follow-up discussion about children's learning, progress and behaviour. The inspector looked at a range of the childminder's policies and procedures. The inspector took account of the views of parents through written statements.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder implements her policies effectively and is vigilant about keeping children safe from harm. She keeps her knowledge and understanding up to date, for example by completing training courses. The childminder is reflective and consults parents and children about improvements to her practice. She has addressed the recommendation from the previous inspection well, and gathers important information from parents to help her assess children's starting points for learning when they first attend. The childminder monitors children's learning overall to identify any gaps in their learning. Partnerships with other providers and local schools are effective and children benefit from a shared approach to their learning and development.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The well-qualified childminder has a firm understanding of how children learn and makes precise assessments of children's levels of development. She uses this information well to plan interesting activities, which support the next steps in their learning. Overall, the childminder makes the most of opportunities to help children make progress across all areas of the curriculum. For example, as children enjoy completing puzzles, they gain skills in mathematical development as she encourages them to count. They talk about the animals they see in pictures, and develop their understanding of the world around them. Children explore a good range of resources, which are easily accessible and reflect diversity and other cultures. They make choices about their play, explore their interests and are motivated to learn.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The attentive childminder is a good role model for children. She helps them to remember their good manners and speak politely to others. Children behave very well and understand the childminder's boundaries. The childminder provides children with opportunities to learn about healthy eating, such as cooking their own healthy food. They follow good hygiene routines and understand that this helps them to stay safe. Children have regular access to the outdoor area and are physically active. They develop good coordination, for example, as they climb and balance with confidence and self-assurance. The childminder interacts positively with children, praising their efforts during activities. Children gain good self-esteem and develop a sense of security and belonging.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children make good progress in their communication and language skills. They speak confidently to others and express their views effectively. Children gain essential skills for starting school, such as attending to their own personal care. They develop independence and show pride in managing tasks for themselves.
