Children make good progress. The childminder is skilled at interacting with the children. They develop good communication and language skills and are confident and sociable. Children behave well. The childminder recognises their achievements and encourages them to play well with others. Children confidently join in the activities, and learn to share and use good manners. The childminder develops effective partnerships with parents to meet each child's care and learning needs through a consistent approach. She has ensured a good level of provision since becoming registered and parents are appreciative of what she does. The childminder provides a stimulating environment with a good range of resources which successfully supports children's learning. Children are well engaged, motivated

Inspection activities
The inspector observed activities and the impact of teaching on children's learning, in the indoor and outdoor area. The inspector looked at a sample of records and discussed planning, children's assessments and their welfare, with the childminder. The inspector checked the suitability of the childminder, including her qualifications. The inspector discussed self-evaluation and observations of children's play, learning and progress with the childminder. The inspector took account of the views of parents, provided in discussion and their written feedback to the childminder.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The childminder has a good understanding of the requirements of her role. Since registration she has successfully focused on improving the way she checks the children's learning. For example, she has developed her assessments, which helps her to check and identify goals to support children's good progress. She focuses on her professional development by attending training and uses information effectively to make improvements. For example, she plans activities to further support children's awareness of differences and this included enjoyable tasting of foods from around the world. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder understands her responsibilities and is knowledgeable about child protection procedures. Her good organisation of activities contributes well to children's safety and well-being.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder has a good knowledge of how children learn overall. She skilfully engages with the children, asks questions and encourages them to think and use language. Children show a joy in looking at books and musical toys, and are motivated to learn. For example, they enthusiastically engage, press buttons and use hand gestures. Children are inquisitive and vigilant about their surroundings. For example, they point to the displays and made animals sounds, as the childminder reinforces what they see. The childminder encourages children's imagination well and this helps children to engage in role-play activities with the dolls and play food.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children are confident, settled and secure. They form good relationships with the childminder and each other and this supports their emotional well-being. The childminder is a positive example in how to treat others. She teaches children good hygiene practices, for example, engaging them in regular handwashing routines and using wipes after stroking the cat. She helps them to learn about their health and safety, such as using good safety equipment, and teaches them how to cross the road. Children learn about healthy lifestyles. For example, they enjoy outings and outdoor play, and develop confidence using the larger equipment in the garden.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children make good progress. They are happy and demonstrate good social skills and independence. For example, they make choices in their play, enjoy talking about the pictures in the story and concentrate well. The childminder encourages children to solve problems; for example, they persevere putting the puzzle pieces in the gaps and negotiate this well with the other children. Children show increasing confidence with language and are well prepared for their next stage in learning and for school.
