This monitoring visit
All staff receive regular safeguarding training. They are confident to follow procedures to protect young people. Managers monitor closely all safeguarding incidents and they take appropriate action when necessary. Any issues are quickly addressed and reported to the relevant agencies. This safeguards young people.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Young people’s health is closely monitored. Individuals receive the drugs they need in line with their prescription. They access routine and follow-up health appointments. Consequently, some young people’s health has improved and some are now requiring less reactive medication.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Young people benefit from detailed individual behaviour management plans. Staff receive regular training in managing challenging behaviour. Physical intervention is used as a last resort. Staff empower young people to make their own choices and manage their own behaviour when appropriate. For example, some young people can now finish their own activity positively by using a card rather than by exhibiting challenging behaviour. Young people make good progress with their behaviour. The frequency of incidents of negative behaviour for some young people has decreased. One social worker commented, `He has made vast improvements. His incidents of challenging behaviour have dramatically reduced.’
p.2
This monitoring visit
Individual diversity is celebrated. For example, young people’s religious choices are respected and specialist diets are catered for. Young people enjoy a plentiful and varied menu. Staff promote healthy eating and help young people to maintain good physical fitness.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Sustaining good relationships with families is highly prioritised. Staff work hard to facilitate positive and safe contact for young people and their families. This promotes young people’s sense of identity. They enjoy quality time with their loved ones, both on site and off.
p.2
This monitoring visit
A comprehensive ongoing training programme ensures that staff have the skills to meet young people’s very complex needs. There are continuing efforts to maintain a stable staff team and managers are looking at new initiatives to recruit staff. This will ensure that young people receive the predictable and consistent care they need. No requirements or recommendations were made at this inspection.
