This provision is good
Children are settled and enjoy their time in the childminder's setting. Children show that they have developed strong attachments with the childminder enabling them to be confident learners. The childminder has developed good partnerships with parents. She has implemented suitable arrangements to keep them informed of their children's progress and activities. Children show good levels of independence, for example, to explore their environment and make decisions about their play. The childminder provides age-appropriate resources to support children's interests and play. The childminder uses information from her observations to gain a good understanding of what children can do, and to support their future skills and learning. All children make good progress given what they know when they start. The childminder evaluates her provision well, and seeks feedback from parents to enhance the care and service she provides.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder misses opportunities to help strengthen children's vocabulary, particularly so they learn how to say and use words clearly. The childminder does not always extend opportunities to encourage parents to contribute fully towards their children's assessments to strengthen learning.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the childminder's interactions with the children while they played and took part in daily routines. The inspector spoke to the childminder at different intervals during the inspection. The inspector observed the resources and activities on offer. The inspector held discussions with the childminder about her self-evaluation processes and safeguarding procedures. The inspector reviewed relevant documents, including the setting's policies and procedures.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder understands the procedures to follow to support children's welfare in the event of a child protection concern. Children are able to play safety in their surroundings. For example, the childminder undertakes daily risk assessments to reduce hazards and implements good safety measures. She monitors children's progress well to support their future learning. The childminder ensures her professional development and practice are current. For instance, she seeks training and uses relevant media to obtain useful information. The childminder shows a good understanding of the importance of supporting children's transfers to other settings. For example, she builds links with other early years providers, including working closely with parents to help ease the process.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder knows children well. She provides opportunities to help young children develop their physical skills, such as in early walking. For example, she ensures children have space to move around freely and comfortably. Children enjoy learning through play, such as playing with familiar and favourite items. From a young age, children develop a good understanding about how things work. For instance, they take pleasure playing with basic pop-up and spinning-top toys. The childminder supports children's sensory experiences well in practical ways, including their investigation skills. For example, children enjoy playing with wet sand and walking on the grass barefoot. She provides opportunities to develop children's creativity, such as providing a music area outdoors, which includes hanging pots, pans and wooden spoons for children to make sounds.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder is a good role model, enabling children to learn right from wrong, including gaining good social skills. For example, during routine tasks, she teaches children to say 'please' and 'thank you' at appropriate times. Children take part in regular outdoor play. The childminder provides good opportunities for young children to develop their small and large movements. For instance, they practise jumping while using the trampoline. The childminder closely supervises children at all times, such as while playing on large equipment, enabling them to take safe risks.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children develop the necessary skills to help prepare them for school. For example, young children are beginning to say single words to express their thoughts. Children show a keen interest in books and learn to use them correctly. For example, they lift flaps and turn pages to see further images. Children learn to count in meaningful ways to support their early mathematical skills. For instance, they enjoy counting their toys.
