they talk with children.  Babies and children develop particularly positive relationships with staff, which help them to feel emotionally secure. Children develop well as self-assured and confident individuals.

p.1

It is not yet outstanding because:

 Children are not always fully supported to develop an understanding about different people in the wider world.  Staff do not always make the most of all opportunities to further children's use and understanding of mathematical language.

p.1

What the setting needs to do to improve further

To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

p.2

Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good

Safeguarding is effective. Staff are fully aware of their role in protecting children from harm and know the procedures to follow if safeguarding concerns arise. Managers follow robust recruitment procedures to ensure the suitability of staff. There are effective processes to help new staff to become familiar with their role and to understand their responsibilities. Managers support staff well. For example, they regularly observe their practice and give targeted feedback to improve teaching. Managers effectively monitor and track the progress of all children. Any gaps in learning are quickly identified and appropriate action is taken. Staff work well in partnership with a wide range of other professionals to provide continuity in care and learning. Parents receive regular information about how their children are progressing. They comment positively about how staff know their children really well and that staff are so supportive. Staff are well

qualified. They are supported well by the management team to continue to update their knowledge and skills.

p.3

Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good

Staff provide a wide range of stimulating resources and activities to engage children well. Children are able to make choices in their play. Younger children especially receive very good support to help them become confident communicators. For example, staff use visual signing techniques to help children express their needs. Babies confidently sign more, please and thank you. All children have good opportunities to investigate and explore. For example, children enjoy water play, sand play and imaginary play outdoors. Children enjoy exploring sensory bags feeling the different textures and hearing the different sounds they made. Babies benefit from having plenty of space to develop their physical skills and mobility.

p.3

Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good

Children are welcomed into a safe, secure and caring environment. Staff have a good knowledge of children's individual needs and meet their care routines effectively. Children are well behaved and focus as they play and learn. Staff are positive role models and frequently praise and encourage children to help them develop their confidence and self- esteem. The staff in the baby room are highly respectful and sensitive to children's care needs. For example, they explain to young children what they are doing as they change their clothing and nappies. They effectively promote children's good health. Staff provide them with well-balanced meals and regular access to outdoor play in the fresh air. They encourage children's independence well and support them to manage their own hygiene needs.

p.3

Outcomes for children are good

Children are growing in confidence and building friendships. They play and explore happily and are keen to learn. All children, including those who are learning English as an additional language, progress well from their different starting points. They achieve and some exceed, standards expected for their age. Children are well prepared for school or the next stage in their learning.
