This provision is good
Children behave well. They interact positively, play cooperatively, and understand about taking turns and sharing toys. They use good manners and respect the needs of others. Staff support children's physical well-being effectively. They provide a good range of activities for children to exercise and use their energy, while having fun. Staff liaise well with children's school teachers and provide activities that complement those at school. Staff get to know children well and actively encourage their future learning, such as through their play. Children respond positively to the friendly, caring staff and gain confidence in their care. Staff give a strong focus to children making choices and sharing control of their club. Children negotiate well together and develop a good sense of emotional security. Staff support children's awareness of keeping safe effectively. For example, children regularly practise fire drills and complete risk assessments of the play areas.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The management team has not fully established successful systems to gather the views of parents to contribute to the self-evaluation processes and further development of the club. The management team does not consistently support staff to participate in opportunities to raise their individual expertise and enhance their practice further.

What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

develop further ways to include the views of parents more effectively within the self- evaluation process to support further improvement provide more opportunities to support the professional development of staff, and develop children's care and play experiences even further.
p.2
Inspection activities
The inspector observed children's interactions in the play room and the school hall. The inspector viewed documentation, such as operational policies, procedures and required records, including those relating to the suitability of staff. The inspector discussed children's play and learning with the manager and staff.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The management team and staff have a clear awareness of child protection issues and the procedures to follow should a concern arise. They update some aspects of their knowledge through training. For example, this has supported their understanding of safeguarding and further ways to help protect children's welfare. The management team implements effective recruitment procedures for staff. They work together well to evaluate their practice and children's experiences, identifying where to make ongoing improvements. Since the last inspection they have made significant improvements. For example, they have implemented a more effective induction and support programme for staff. This helps to provide an ongoing assessment of staff suitability and awareness of their responsibilities.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
Staff actively encourage children's creativity, imagination and their understanding of the world. For example, children become absorbed decorating the African necklaces and bangles that they make. They learn how to use chop sticks and make model windmills. Children enjoy playing in the role-play cafe and take turns to serve their friends some 'tea and cake'. Staff include children in planning, and effectively help them develop their ideas and start to solve simple practical problems. For example, children concentrate well making masks of their favourite film characters. They work out what the mask should look like, the materials they need to make them and how they can fit them on their faces.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children develop good physical strength and mobility. For example, they have great fun running across the school hall when playing a favourite game. They sometimes visit a local park and enjoy using different play equipment that provides more challenge for their developing balance and coordination. Children are motivated in their play and interact happily together. They learn to keep themselves and others safe. For example, older children help their younger friends and gently remind them about the agreed 'rules' of the club. They explain why these are important to help them all stay safe. Younger children quickly learn the daily routines and become independent. For example, they know to wash up their cups and plates after snack time.
