This provision is good
The childminder gathers comprehensive information from parents about their children's development when they first start. This helps children to settle swiftly into their new setting as the childminder is aware of their current interests. The childminder is a good role model to children, as she promotes respect and tolerance towards others. Children learn to use their manners, share and take turns as they play together. Snacks and meals are nutritious and well balanced. Children cut up and prepare their own fruit. They learn about healthy food options and develop their independence skills. Effective risk assessments are in place. The childminder ensures that hazards are removed or inaccessible to children. This means that children are not at risk of significant harm.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not effectively gather and share information with other early years settings children attend. The childminder is not always sharply focused on promoting children's individual next steps in learning. This means that children are not consistently supported and challenged to achieve at the highest level.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector looked at children's assessment records and a range of other documentation. The inspector spoke to the childminder and children during the course of the inspection. The inspector took into account the views and comments from parents.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder has a good knowledge and understanding about safeguarding procedures. She is clear about the signs and symptoms of different types of child abuse and understands the importance of promptly reporting any concerns. This helps to keep children safe and protects them from harm. Partnership working with parents is strong. Effective two-way communication is in place between parents and the childminder. Discussions, regular newsletters and termly summaries of children's progress help to ensure that parents are fully involved in their children's learning. The childminder skilfully reviews and evaluates the effectiveness of her training against children's progress. She uses her self-evaluation to improve the quality of her practice.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The well-qualified childminder has a good understanding of how children learn through play. Children are motivated and interested in learning. The childminder encourages children to speculate and test out their ideas through trial and error. Children learn how to safely use scissors as they cut paper for their activity. The childminder encourages children to listen and respond to questions and to join in with words they know. This helps to build on children's communication and language skills and their self-esteem as they repeat words back to the childminder. Children enjoy participating in creative activities. They make patterns and shapes using a selection of stickers, stampers and crayons. The childminder supports children's mathematical skills well as children work together to assemble the train track and carriages.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children settle well and quickly establish a good relationship and bonds with the childminder. This helps children to be confident and happy within the environment. A good variety of resources is available to help promote children's skills in all aspects of their learning. Children regularly spend time playing outside as they develop an understanding of healthy lifestyles. The childminder effectively promotes exercise as the children enjoy balancing, climbing and riding wheeled vehicles. This helps to strengthen their physical skills. Children learn about keeping themselves safe as the childminder reminds them of dangers and boundaries. Young children learn how to manoeuvre over the step in order to get into the garden to enjoy outdoor play safely.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
All children make good progress from their starting points. Children are confident learners who are well prepared for their next stage in their learning, such as school. Pre-school children develop their literacy and mathematical skills well. They count up to 10 and beyond with confidence and enjoy writing and mark-making activities both indoors and outdoors. Children's independence is well promoted. They initiate their play and competently dress themselves ready for outdoor activities.
