This provision is inadequate
Information about who lives at the premises has not been notified to Ofsted through the appropriate documentation, in order to enable them to undertake appropriate checks. The daily record of children being cared for on the premises is not appropriately maintained and does not include their hours of attendance. The childminder has not yet undertaken an emergency evacuation drill with children since registration and does not have a robust emergency evacuation procedure in place. The identification of children's next steps in learning and assessment of their progress are not accurate enough. Therefore, planned activities do not always promote children's learning effectively. Partnerships with local schools do not yet facilitate information sharing about children's development stage and individual needs. Processes for evaluating the setting are not yet robust enough to ensure that all weaknesses are identified and addressed.
p.1
It has the following strengths
Positive interactions are in place between children and the childminder. Children are settled and content. Children access the outdoors every day, which helps them to lead a healthy lifestyle.
p.1
What the setting needs to do to improve further

p.2
Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching and interactions between children and the childminder during activities indoors and outdoors to assess the impact this has on children's learning and development. The inspector looked at the breadth of resources available to support children in their individual learning and development. The inspector held a meeting with the childminder. She looked at relevant documentation, such as policies and procedures, risk assessments and evidence of the suitability of adults living on the premises. The inspector spoke to children about the activities they enjoyed and took account of their views.
p.3
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is inadequate
The arrangements for safeguarding are ineffective. Robust safeguarding procedures are not in place. The childminder has failed to notify Ofsted of all adults living on the premises. In addition, she does not maintain a daily record of children on the premises with their hours of attendance and does not have a robust emergency evacuation procedure in place. The childminder attends statutory training, such as first aid. Robust processes for self evaluation are not in place. For example, actions from the last inspection have yet to be fully addressed and current areas of weakness have not been identified. Processes for assessment are weak. Partnerships with other professionals, such as teachers, are in place but do not yet facilitate the sharing of information about children's learning and development needs.
p.4
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is inadequate
The childminder has a limited understanding of the learning and development requirements of the early years foundation stage. She observes children as they play but does not always reflect on how this information could be used to support children's next steps in learning. While children enjoy taking part in planned activities, these do not always provide targeted support to develop children's learning and development. Processes for assessment are weak. This means it is difficult to reflect on children's progress or identify gaps in children's learning and development. Partnerships with parents are in place. The childminder has an awareness of children's care needs and has regular discussions with parents.
p.4
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are inadequate
Children's welfare is not sufficiently promoted as the childminder's understanding of effective safeguarding procedures is not robust. However, interactions between children and the childminder are warm and positive. The childminder is an effective role model and gives consistent praise to children to support positive behaviour. Children's independence is supported through choosing resources they would like to play with and using the bathroom independently. Their physical well-being is promoted through accessing outdoor play in the garden and going on outings in the local environment. Some partnerships are in place with teachers from local schools. The childminder takes younger children to collect older children from school, which supports children as they prepare for the move to school.
p.4
Outcomes for children are inadequate
Children are not prepared well enough for the next stage in their learning, such as school. Children's achievements are not accurately assessed and they are not sufficiently challenged to make the progress that they have the potential to.
