Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities in all parts of the setting and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector discussed a joint observation held with the childminder. The inspector held discussions with the childminder and spoke to her assistants and children. The inspector looked at relevant documentation, such as suitability and qualifications records, parent permission forms, attendance records, and policies and procedures. The inspector took account of the views of parents and carers by speaking with them during the inspection and by reading testimonials.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is outstanding
The childminder's organisational skills are exceptional. She works exceedingly closely with her co-childminder and others in the setting to provide an extremely efficiently run service. She constantly seeks the views of parents and effectively implements their requests. For example, parents are keen that their children receive a balanced diet. The childminder alters her menu weekly to make sure they receive a good variety in their meals. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder is fully familiar with the procedures of the setting and is thoroughly aware of her responsibilities to protect children. She has excellent relationships with parents and carers. She exchanges information with them daily about their children's care and development and this gives them huge confidence in the setting.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding
The childminder successfully observes the children in her care. She rigorously assesses their development and provides extremely imaginative and challenging activities to support their individual learning needs. The childminder introduces themes to motivate the children and incorporates their interests. For example, during the inspection, children thoroughly enjoyed exploring a box of items gathered from the seashore. They excitedly dipped in their hands to feel and describe the textures of the items hidden from sight. They were thrilled to guess the identity of the artefacts and intrigued to learn about their origins. The childminder expertly extended their development by producing photographs of the items and asking children to compare them. She wants to extend this activity even further next time to build on the children's enthusiasm and thirst for learning.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding
Children thoroughly enjoy their time in the setting. They are eager to arrive and reluctant to leave. The childminder provides children with an exceptionally secure and safe environment for them to explore and investigate. They make friends easily and have fun learning from children of different age groups. The childminder invites farms and zoos to bring their animals to the setting for children to experience. They go out to local facilities and find out about their local community. The childminder has very high expectations of all children. Children learn to become independent and enjoy achieving new skills. They receive praise and applause when they achieve something for the first time, such as tying their shoe laces. The childminder talks to children about people who are different from themselves. Her resources reflect the diversity in society and children learn to respect others.
p.3
Outcomes for children are outstanding
Children make outstanding progress in their learning. The childminder promotes children's language development exceptionally well. Children see written words in their environment and in the vast array of books available. This helps them to understand that words have meaning. They learn to count and recognise colours and shapes through their everyday activities. Children experience activities that help them to become exceptionally well prepared for school and the next stage in their learning.
