Safeguarding is effective. The childminder very clearly understands her responsibility to support children's safety and well-being. She has an excellent understanding of what to do if she has concerns about children's welfare. The qualified childminder uses her experience extremely well to support her assistant. For example, she has a clear plan to develop the assistant's knowledge and role even further. The childminder reflects exceptionally well on her practices and developments have a highly positive impact on children's outcomes. For example, she routinely reviews her training and development programmes. The childminder continues to plan improvements and provides highly effective care and education for children.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding
Children are highly involved in shaping and developing their learning experiences. For example, the childminder encourages them to choose resources and activities, such as helping to plan what to plant next in the garden. The childminder has exceptional relationships with parents. For instance, she skilfully supports them to understand their children's individual learning styles and gives advice on how they could encourage and develop children's skills at home. Very occasionally, the childminder misses a minor opportunity to extend children's literacy skills even further. Children have excellent opportunities to learn about animals, plants and the natural environment. For example, the childminder extends their knowledge and interest as she successfully teaches children about different animals, such as about iguanas and what they eat.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding
Children are extremely happy and settled in the childminder's care. The childminder successfully encourages young children to talk about their feelings and helps them to understand their meaning. For example, she explains that one of their friends was smiling in a picture and she explains that this means they are happy and enjoying themselves. Children are very able and highly independent. For example, they are extremely keen to complete tasks for themselves, such as easily putting their coats on to go in the garden, pouring drinks and peeling bananas.
p.3
Outcomes for children are outstanding
Children make rapid progress in their learning and development from their individual starting points. They have an immense interest in learning and are extremely keen to know how and why something happens. They are highly motivated and eager to engage in activities. Children explore and experiment, and share their views clearly. For example, children talk about what they could do with the mint growing in the garden. They learn an excellent range of skills to help them be exceptionally ready to start school.
