This provision is good
The childminder establishes good relationships with children. She values children's efforts and effectively supports their confidence. Children demonstrate good levels of self-esteem. The childminder engages children well in conversation. She extends their listening and speaking skills, for example, by asking appropriate questions. Children are confident talkers and express their individual needs. The childminder supports children's physical well-being and introduces them to good hygiene routines. Children eat healthily and enjoy regular outdoor and physical play. The childminder provides a safe and stimulating environment. She carries out daily risks assessments to help ensure resources and activities are appropriate for the children. p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder sometimes misses opportunities to further extend children's learning during planned activities. For example, she does not always enable them to use their imagination in activities to help her keep children fully engaged in their learning. The childminder does not consistently encourage parents to contribute and share information on what children do at home to help further support planning for next steps in learning.

Inspection activities
The inspector looked at evidence of the suitability of the childminder and other adults in the household. The inspector looked at a range of documentation, including children's records, policies and procedures. The inspector had a tour of the premises and observed children engaged in a variety of learning experiences. The inspector spoke to the childminder at appropriate times during the inspection. The inspector took into account the views of parents through written and verbal feedback.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The childminder places strong emphases on ensuring children are safe while also affording them the freedom to explore. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a good understanding of the process to report any concerns about children's welfare. She keeps her knowledge of current legislation up to date and completes all necessary suitability checks on adults living with her. She includes parents' and other professionals' views when reviewing her provision to help her improve. She continually evaluates her setting, updates her knowledge and attends training to help maintain and further raise the quality of her practice.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder provides children with the opportunity to choose resources and activities that help support their skills across all areas of learning. For example, children enjoy playing with farm animals, using different types of cereal to create the farm and feed the animals or make bracelets using pipe cleaners. The childminder provides information for parents and other providers, to help support consistency. She introduces children to mathematical concepts, for example, when counting the amounts of hoops on the bracelet and making different patterns with them. The childminder monitors children's progress effectively. She promptly identifies any gaps in children's learning and takes action to help them catch up swiftly.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder works well with parents to agree good settling-in procedures that help meet children's emotional needs. Children quickly build secure bonds with the childminder. They feel happy and safe in the homely environment. Children have a variety of resources to choose from that excite them and enable them to follow their chosen play experiences. They have plenty of space to play and explore, which helps to support their independence. The childminder teaches children about road safety and the world around them effectively. For example, during local walks they talk about what they need to do before crossing the roads and after feeding the animals. The childminder is a good role model and encourages children's positive behaviour. Children behave well.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children make good progress from their starting points and are well prepared for their next stage in learning. They are able to manage their own needs, learn how to share, play respectfully together and become independent. Children are motivated, active and gain positive skills that help their move on to school.
