This provision is good
The childminder and her assistant are caring and friendly. They encourage and praise children during activities, which helps promote their confidence and their motivation to explore. Children settle well and form secure attachments with them. The childminder establishes good relationships with parents and encourages their participation and engagement in children's learning. For example, she plans special outings and she invites parents to join in cultural celebrations. All children and their families feel welcome at the childminder's inclusive setting. The childminder provides opportunities for children to develop familiarity with print. For example, children learn to identify their name labels on arrival. Children make good progress towards the next stages in their learning. The childminder has developed appropriate procedures to help ensure a smooth transfer for children as they move between settings. For example, she prepares

summary reports to share with staff and she plans activities to help prepare children for their move to school.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
On some occasions, the childminder does not identify and support children well to learn through activities that capture their current interests. Assistants miss some opportunities to extend children's learning further, for example, during art and craft activities.
p.1
What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

Inspection activities
The inspector observed children and their interactions with the childminder. The inspector carried out discussions with the childminder and her assistant at appropriate times during the inspection. The inspector took account of the views of parents and children. The inspector viewed a sample of documents, including children's learning records.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder and her assistant understand how to identify possible child protection concerns and the procedures to follow to protect children in their care. The childminder attends training to help improve her knowledge and skills, and closely monitors the work of her assistant to help ensure consistency in the quality of teaching. For example, she has made improvements to the procedures for assessing, monitoring and planning precisely for individual children's progress. She ensures that her assistant has relevant qualifications, such as paediatric first-aid. The childminder reflects well on her practice and establishes clear targets for improvement. For example, she has strengthened opportunities for children to learn about how to keep themselves safe from harm in the event of an emergency.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder skilfully extends children's mathematical knowledge alongside their play. For example, she teaches children to understand concepts, such as left and right, and they learn to listen to instructions and change direction as they ride wheeled equipment. The assistant challenges children's learning further, to help extend on what they already know and can do. For example, children learn to ride their bike on a narrow path across the garden, which also helps children strengthen their concentration skills. Children learn to link letters to their sounds and the assistant supports them closely to label their work. The childminder develops children's early literacy skills well.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children benefit from daily opportunities to play outdoors. They develop healthy eating habits which help support their physical well-being. They develop positive relationships with other children. For example, they play interactive games, such as passing and kicking a ball to each other and they take turns well during activities. The childminder develops children's social skills effectively. Children learn to make choices; for example, they decide what colours they would like to use for their painting activity.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children learn to draw for a purpose and assign meaning to the marks they make. For example, they add detail, such as eyes, nose and teeth and describe that they have drawn a dinosaur. Children develop good communication skills. For example, the childminder and her assistant model language and introduce vocabulary alongside children's play. They build on their counting skills; for example, they say number names in order up to 10 as they count the butterflies in a picture. Children make good progress from their starting points and are prepared well for future learning.
