p.1
This provision requires improvement. It is not yet good because:
The childminder has not notified Ofsted of an adult moving into the childminding premises, which means that appropriate suitability checks have not been taken up. The childminder does not complete a short written summary of children's development between the ages of two and three years to share with parents. The childminder does not make good use of what she knows about children's learning to plan suitably challenging, motivating experiences that promote their good progress. The childminder does not make the most of opportunities to share ideas, new information and good early years practice with her fellow childminders in order to raise the quality of teaching.
p.1
It has the following strengths
The childminder is kind and patient with children and has a close bond with them. She works especially well with parents to reassure and support those children who find it more difficult to settle into the childminder's home. Children learn to behave well and develop good manners. The childminder is a positive role model to them and encourages them to share their toys and take their turn. Children learn good hygiene routines and develop their understanding of healthy foods and lifestyles.

What the setting needs to do to improve further
To meet the requirements of the early years foundation stage and the Childcare Register the provider must:
p.2
Due Date
provide Ofsted with the required information so that checks can be made to ensure that people living on the childminding premises are suitable 19/08/2016
p.2
Due Date
ensure Ofsted is informed of the name, date of birth, address and telephone number of any person aged 16 or over living on the childminding premises 19/08/2016
p.2
Due Date

p.2
Due Date
make effective use of observation and assessment to plan exciting activities that precisely reflect children's interests and learning styles in order to promote their good progress. 19/08/2016
p.2
Due Date
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:
p.2
Due Date
implement regular opportunities to share current good practice, new ideas and guidance with the co-childminders in order to achieve consistently good teaching that effectively supports children's learning.
p.2
Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching and spoke to the childminder about how she plans for children's progress. The inspector looked at the premises and the resources available children. A range of documentation was looked at, including the childminder's suitability and training, some policies and procedures and children's records. Discussions were held with a small number of parents and their written comments were taken into account.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management requires improvement
The childminder has failed to tell Ofsted of an adult moving into the childminding premises and the required suitability checks have not been completed. However, the childminder ensures that children are supervised at all times, therefore the risk to children is small. Arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder understands how to refer children who are at risk of abuse. Since the last inspection she has attended an appropriate first-aid training course, helping her to deal with minor accidents to children. The childminder has a developing self-evaluation process. She is keen to improve and has a suitable understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of her provision. She does independent reading and research to strengthen her teaching skills. However, she does not share good practice with her colleagues to help them all work towards offering consistently good learning experiences for children.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment requires improvement
The childminder has improved her understanding of the learning and development requirements since the last inspection. However, she has not provided parents with the required written summary of their children's development when they are between two and three years of age. The childminder does not use her knowledge of children effectively to plan exciting and well-planned experiences that promote their good progress. Despite this, the childminder has an overview of children's development, which helps her to identify any areas of delay. Overall, children have an enjoyable time. They help themselves to books and enjoy listening to stories. The childminder sits alongside children as they play. She talks to them about the pots and pans they have chosen, introducing words that help children to learn about size and shape.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare require improvement
The childminder quickly develops caring relationships with their children. Where children find settling in difficult, she is especially attentive, reassuring children with her kind presence. The childminder talks to children about healthy food choices and works with parents to ensure packed lunches are nutritious. She supervises children as they play to keep them safe. Children have some opportunities to be active outdoors. They play in the childminder's garden and go to local parks. The childminder supports children who speak English as an additional language appropriately. She collects key words from parents and uses a variety of resources, such as visual cards to help them to communicate with each other. Because suitable steps have not been taken to ensure an adult living on the childminding premises is suitable, children's welfare is not fully assured.
p.3
Outcomes for children require improvement
Children make independent choices about their activities and develop firm friendships with others. Children are developing their vocabulary and have opportunities to practise their early writing. Sharing games helps children to understand how to share and take their turn. Overall, children develop the basic skills they need for the next stage of their learning but are not fully supported to make good progress.
