They meticulously follow the club's policies and procedures that are in place. All staff have current paediatric first-aid training so they are very knowledgeable about how to provide and administer first aid to children.  Children's communication skills are exceptionally well supported. Staff are skilful at tuning into children's interests. They give children time to share their thoughts and ideas. Staff listen carefully to what children say and respond positively. Children feel valued and are confident to communicate with other children and staff.

Effectiveness of the leadership and management is outstanding

The manager is extremely proactive in seeking in the views of staff, children and parents to establish how well the club is meeting the needs of everyone. Information gathered is carefully evaluated and leads to focused plans, prioritising changes to continually improve and enhance the quality of the club. There are robust supervision and appraisal systems that effectively monitor and support staff development. Staff receive very good professional advice from other professionals and translate this effectively into practice. They access a range of training courses to continually enrich their knowledge and skills. Arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The manager and staff have an excellent knowledge of safeguarding procedures and recognise the signs and symptoms of possible abuse or neglect. They have a deep understanding of their responsibility in promoting children's safety and well-being. Risk assessments are stringently carried out on a daily

basis to ensure that the club premises are safe.

p.3

Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding

Staff are well qualified and have a strong understanding of child development. This has a big impact on children's learning. Children are highly motivated in the rich and purposeful environments that staff plan. They engage in meaningful play and exploration inside and outside. Staff ensure that children are given time to develop their ideas and elaborate their play. They help children prepare for a change of routine by telling them in advance what is going to happen next, for example, at lunchtime. Staff interactions with children are very effective. They constantly observe and assess children to help move their learning on and ensure children's well-being. For example, as children were looking for bugs in the outdoor area, a member of staff joined them in their search. The children learned that many bugs like to live in places where they can not be easily seen. They found out what different bugs eat, skilfully supported by the member of staff as she carefully responded

p.3

Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding

Children consistently demonstrate high levels of well-being. This is enhanced by the opportunities for children to enjoy fresh air and physical exercise outside. The manager identifies further ways to build children's enthusiasm for exercise, for example, through regular sessions delivered by a yoga teacher. Children thoroughly enjoy these sessions and learn how to keep their bodies strong and healthy. Children can choose when they want to eat snacks that the club provide. They show high levels of independence as they choose and pour their drinks. Children and staff sit together at mealtimes, making these very sociable events. Staff use the local area to provide children with excellent opportunities to learn about their own community. Children find out about how to make their own risk assessments, for example, as they navigate across an obstacle course. They show high levels of confidence in their own abilities. Children demonstrate a strong sense

of belonging in the club. Staff work extremely hard to ensure all children are included and make friends with their peers.
