This provision is good
The quality of teaching is good. The childminder plans a wide range of activities which is closely matched to children's interests and fascinations. This contributes to the good progress children make in their learning. The childminder's setting is extremely well organised and offers a wide range of high- quality resources for children to choose from. This helps develop children's independence. Children are developing confidence. The childminder encourages children to have a go and praises them for their achievements. The childminder listens carefully to children and is quick to respond to their individual care needs. This supports children's emotional well-being and helps them form secure attachments. The childminder works in partnership with other professionals. This helps provide continuity in care and education for children. The childminder accurately assesses the quality of her provision, taking account of the

views of parents and other professionals. She sets actions to improve her service and is striving to offer the very best level of care and education for children.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The information gathered about children when they start at the setting does not always provide an accurate account of their stage of development. The childminder does not take into account how children's next steps in learning can be supported at home.
p.1
What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

improve the procedure for gathering information about children's stage of development on entry to the setting and plan challenging activities from the outset build on the good partnerships with parents and identify ways to support children's learning at home.
p.2
Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities indoors and outdoors, and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector completed a joint observation with the childminder. The inspector spoke to the childminder and children at appropriate times during the inspection. She looked at relevant documentation, such as the childminder's self- evaluation and children's learning records. The inspector spoke to parents during the inspection and took account of their views.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder possesses an in-depth knowledge of safeguarding issues. She keeps up to date with the Local Safeguarding Children Board procedures and has a thorough understanding of how to report concerns about children's welfare. The childminder is committed to continuous professional development. For example, she works in partnership with her local authority early years consultant to review her provision and improve her practice. The childminder has developed links with the local children's centre and makes good use of the professional services on offer to help meet children's specific needs. Parents comment positively about the quality of provision and the care provided.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder provides a wide range of exciting activities, both in her setting and in the local community. She has high expectations of all children and helps to develop their language and communication skills exceptionally well. For example, she takes advice from speech and language therapists to improve children's language development through play. The childminder has a good understanding of how to develop children's mathematical skills. For example, children learn about size as they order toy tractors from the smallest to the biggest. She extends children's mathematical language by introducing words, such as larger and huge. The childminder regularly checks children's progress and shares this with parents. Gaps in children's learning are swiftly identified and planned for.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder provides a warm and welcoming home environment where children are nurtured and very much valued. She implements care routines well and places a strong emphasis on teaching children about the importance of healthy lifestyles. Children behave very well. The childminder sets clear boundaries for children and models the use of good manners. Toddlers play gently and show kindness towards babies. Children make the most of the open space in the outdoor area to develop their physical skills. The childminder is highly alert to risks in the environment and takes appropriate steps to reduce hazards and keep children safe at all times. Children are active members of the local community and are developing a good understanding of the wider world. For example, they attend a local woodland venue with the childminder where they learn about the natural environment.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children are keen and motivated learners. They explore their surroundings and make independent choices in their play. For example, toddlers select train tracks and develop their thinking skills as they independently work out how to join the tracks together. They enjoy pushing different vehicles around the track and engage in imaginative play for an extended period of time. Children make good progress in their learning from their starting points and are well prepared for the next stage in their learning, including the move to school.
