This provision is good
The childminder has successfully reviewed the organisation of her practice to help ensure that she accurately maintains all required records and documentation. She reflects on her practice well, and considers the views of the children, to help her continually make improvements. The childminder uses her good knowledge of children's personalities, preferences and abilities to extend their enjoyment and learning well as they play. Children are enthusiastic learners and make good progress from their starting points. The childminder is very effective in helping children to develop positive social skills. They are happy and are very confident to express their own ideas and opinions. Children develop good control and coordination, and they enthusiastically take part in a large range of interesting physical games in the childminder's garden. They enjoy the freedom they have to explore the resources outdoors and learn to consider their own
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not always make the best use of opportunities to provide encouragement and resources to support children's interest in writing. The childminder does not always actively involve parents in the planning for their children's future learning.

extend the opportunities for children to explore materials to develop their interest and skills in early writing further develop further the arrangements to work with parents to involve them more fully in planning for their children's learning.
p.2
Inspection activities
The inspector viewed all areas of the property used by children, and observed the interaction of the childminder and children during a range of activities. The inspector spoke with the childminder and children at appropriate times during the inspection. The inspector and the childminder jointly evaluated the effectiveness of activities on children's learning. The inspector checked a sample of documentation, including attendance registers, the safeguarding policy and information about children's progress.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The childminder has effective arrangements to help her ensure her practices continually improve and reflect children's evolving needs. She attends training and networks with other childminders to share ideas. The childminder makes good use of her skills and knowledge to support children's learning and welfare. She has recently updated her safeguarding policy and understands the action to take if she has any concerns about a child's welfare. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder shares information well with other professionals to provide continuity in children's learning.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder observes children as they play and plans activities that they enjoy and that offer a good level of challenge. She monitors children to make sure that they make progress and is embedding systems to make her assessments more precise. The childminder is a skilled teacher. She instinctively knows when to intervene in children's play to extend their enjoyment and learning. She also recognises when to stand back and allow them to explore their own ideas. The childminder is very effective at supporting children's rapidly developing language. She listens intently when they speak, successfully encouraging them to share their views and opinions, and introduces new words to extend their vocabulary. Children thoroughly enjoy storytelling and using their imaginations. They show a good knowledge of the wider world. For example, as they travel around the garden in a large ship construction, they pretend to be pirates hunting for treasure.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Overall, children play very well together. The childminder is patient and consistent as she helps them to understand how to behave well and how to resolve minor disputes. Children learn to consider the needs of others and are very friendly. There is an extensive range of resources to support their physical development. For example, children very confidently climb the steps to slides, operate and steer a range of ride-on vehicles and enjoy running games. Children discuss the foods that they like and the childminder supports them well to make healthy choices. The childminder is very sensitive to children's emotional well-being. For example, she offers cuddles and praise when appropriate and sympathises with their frustrations, helping them to find solutions.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children are prepared well with the skills they need for their future learning, including moving on to school. They are independent and are confident to try new things and explore their ideas. For example, they have fun as they discover what happens when they place different items onto a parachute and send them flying into the air.
