This provision is good
The childminder has good relationships with the children. They feel happy, safe and secure in her company, which helps to support their emotional well-being. Partnerships with parents are good. The childminder takes account of their views and works closely with parents to support children's learning at home and in the setting. The childminder evaluates the quality of her provision carefully and accurately to meet children's needs. For instance, she has improved the range of opportunities for children to learn about the natural world. Children behave well. They share resources happily and enjoy playing together, such as when engaging with a sand tray activity. The childminder monitors children's progress regularly. She observes children's play and identifies any areas where they need additional help to catch up. Children make good progress from their starting points. They learn a range of skills,

such as independence and perseverance, which helps to prepare them for the next stage in their learning.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
Occasionally, activities do not provide children with appropriate challenge to support their learning further. Children do not always have opportunities to develop their awareness of the differences and similarities between themselves and others.
p.1
What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

p.2
Inspection activities
The inspector observed children's activities in the setting and spoke to the childminder when it was appropriate to do so. The inspector observed some daily care routines, including the provision of snacks. The inspector sampled children's records, a range of policies and other documents. The inspector toured areas of the premises used for childminding. The inspector looked at the record of parents' views collected by the childminder.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The childminder makes good use of her training and qualifications. For example, she uses her training and regular communication with other childminders to keep her professional knowledge up to date. Good partnership between the childminder and other providers supports children's progress. The childminder shares information with any other settings children attend to enable them to work together. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a good knowledge of the signs and symptoms of possible safeguarding concerns. She keeps herself aware of the proper procedures to follow should any such concern arise. The childminder carries out regular checks to help ensure that her premises remain safe for children to use.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder plans children's learning carefully, such as by identifying activities that enable children to practise their developing skills. She helps them learn how to use resources effectively. For example, the childminder guided children on how to use particular equipment to blow soapy water bubbles to their satisfaction. The childminder helps children to develop skills such as number awareness and physical control. For example, she talked to children about numbers as they walked along a large balancing beam. The childminder gives children good opportunities to explore their interests. For instance, children were able to experiment with different sound-making resources to create their own noises and sounds.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children settle in easily and respond positively to the childminder's constant encouragement. The childminder meets children's physical and emotional needs well. She observes when younger children become hungry or thirsty and provides healthy food and drink. The childminder successfully encourages children to treat others with courtesy and respect. She models good manners and praises children when they respond accordingly. She helps children learn how to manage their own safety and think of others, such as when playing in the sand.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children are confident and highly motivated to explore and engage in activities. They enjoy learning, achieve well, and are well prepared for the next stages of their learning and education. Children develop their understanding of spoken words and their skills in mathematics, science and physical movement. For example, children followed the childminder's instructions when learning to balance on beams and on the trampoline. Children are inquisitive and enjoy the experience of blowing bubbles, noticing the differences in the size and movement.
