Summary of complaint
On 22 March 2016, we received a complaint that raised concerns about the suitability of people living at the childminder's home, leaving children unattended and the safety of the premises.
p.1
Summary of complaint
We needed to look into these concerns to see if the childminder is meeting the Early Years Foundation Stage welfare requirements relating to safeguarding and promoting children’s welfare. In particular, the requirements relating to suitable people, child protection and safety.
p.1
Summary of complaint
On 6 April 2016 we carried out an unannounced visit to the childminder. We found that the childminder failed to notify us of persons living at the address. This meant that the childminder failed to supply us with information so that suitability checks could be carried out. As a result, children have been put at risk of harm because minded children have been looked after while unvetted adults have been living on the premises.
p.1
Summary of complaint
In addition to this, the childminder failed to notify us of an allegation made that she had left children unsupervised and failed to supply us with children's records of attendance. Therefore, we believe that children have been left unsupervised and put at risk of harm.
p.1
Summary of complaint
We also found that the premises are not safe for the provision of care and education for children.
p.1
Summary of complaint
We suspended the childminder’s registration because we believed children may be at risk of harm. The childminder may not provide childcare for which registration is required while the suspension is in place, and will commit an offence if they do so. We are taking steps to cancel the registration because we believe that the childminder is no longer suitable to remain registered. The childminder has objected to our intention to cancel the registration.
p.1
Summary of complaint
We carried out an unannounced visit on 15 August 2016 to monitor compliance with the suspension notice and found that the childminder was complying with the notice. The childminder had informed us that she had taken action to address the concerns. However, we found that the concerns relating to unvetted adults living on the premises and the risks within the premises still remain. In addition to this, the childminder does not have current public liability insurance.
p.2
Summary of complaint
The childminder remains suspended while we take steps to cancel the registration.
p.2
Publication of complaints
We publish details of complaints made against childminders, home childcarers and childcare providers where we or the provider have taken action in order to meet legal requirements.
p.2
Publication of complaints
