This provision is good
The childminder is well qualified and uses her childcare knowledge and experience well to challenge and extend children's individual learning needs through their play. Children make good progress. Children make many choices in their play. Play areas, inside and outside, are stimulating and organised well to enable children to successfully organise their play and make independent choices. The childminder and her co-childminder work closely together to reflect on all aspects of their practice to help them make continuous improvements for children. Children have a very good understanding of how to behave. The childminder establishes clear boundaries and expectations, which help children to stay safe and make good friendships. The childminder establishes very good partnerships with parents. They receive regular information about children's progress, to encourage their involvement at home.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder sometimes misses opportunities to exchange information with other pre-school settings that children attend, to further support consistency in learning. Children do not always have enough opportunities to hear and use languages spoken at home, to further increase their confidence and sense of identity.

What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

increase links with other childcare settings that children attend, to further support consistency in their learning provide more opportunities for children to use and hear languages that are familiar to them at home.
p.2
Inspection activities
The inspector observed activities in the childminder's setting. The inspector spoke to the childminder, co-childminder and children at appropriate times during the inspection. The inspector looked at children's records and a sample of other documentation, including policies and procedures. The inspector took account of the written feedback from parents and the childminder's self-evaluation.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The childminder seeks feedback from parents to help improve outcomes for children. Regular reflection and sharing of skills with her co-childminder help the childminder ensure that children benefit greatly from their professional expertise. The childminder attends regular training to help her to make changes that have a positive impact on outcomes for children. Monitoring procedures are very thorough. The childminder adapts the provision well to support children's individual learning needs and engages well with parents to ensure appropriate intervention is secured to help narrow any gaps in learning. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a good understanding of child protection procedures and knows how to respond to any concerns to keep children safe.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
Children are eager to be involved in the activities on offer. The childminder is skilled at identifying opportunities to extend children's learning as they play. For example, as they walk in the woods, the childminder helps children to measure and engage in problem- solving as they consider how they could reach an object in a tree. Children have time to think before offering their suggestions. The childminder praises children's ideas, helping them to feel confident to contribute to discussions. She has a very good understanding of children's individual learning needs and interests and plans a wide range of learning experiences based on these. For example, to build on children's communication skills, she encourages them to sing out loud and learn how to project their voice with confidence.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children are very happy and settle quickly. They form a strong bond with the childminder and her co-childminder, and feel safe and secure in their care. Children are helpful and kind, and demonstrate a good understanding of how to behave. For example, on an outing they hold on to the fence while they wait for everyone to get out of the car, understanding that this is a safe place to be. Children learn about keeping healthy. They help to plant and grow fruits and vegetables in the garden, encouraging an early interest in foods that are good for them. Children engage in a wide range of activities outdoors, supporting their health and physical development well.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children develop skills that help them make good progress and prepare them well for the next stage in their learning. They are confident to explore and eager to learn. They have a keen interest in books and stories and gain good early literacy skills. For example, they listen carefully and make comments as the childminder reads to them. They learn letter shapes as they use written labels on toy boxes to help them find what they are looking for. Children take turns in conversations and have an increasingly wide vocabulary.
