This provision is good
The childminder is committed to training to support her continued professional development. For example, she has completed a level 3 qualification and uses the information gained to help her improve outcomes for children. The childminder supports children with special educational needs or disability particularly well. She works closely with the parents and other early years professionals to meet their individual needs and help them progress. Children learn about healthy lifestyles and the importance of good hygiene routines through interesting activities. For example, the childminder helps the children conduct an experiment with bread to demonstrate how germs stay on our hands if we do not wash them correctly. Children make good progress in their learning. There is a broad range of resources covering all areas of learning that are easily accessible to enable children to make choices in their play.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not always encourage parents fully to be actively involved in their children's learning to support them even further at home. On occasions, the childminder is not fully extending children's learning when they are playing independently and joining in activities with others.
p.1
What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

develop a more consistent approach to working with parents to support children's ongoing learning at home make better use of every opportunity to consistently extend children's learning during their independent play and activities with others.
p.2
Inspection activities
The inspector completed a joint observation with the childminder and discussed children's play, learning and progress. The inspector observed the childminder, her co-childminder and children in the designated play hut and in the garden. The inspector reviewed a sample of documentation, including self-evaluation documents and children's learning records. The inspector used parents' written feedback to gain their views about the provision. The inspector spoke to the childminder, her co-childminder and children at appropriate times.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has attended training and increased her knowledge about all aspects of safeguarding, such as e-safety and child protection, to help her keep children safe. The childminder works closely with her co-childminder. They continually reflect on their practice to make sure they are meeting the needs of the children and achieve continuous improvement. The childminder has made good progress since her last inspection. Her quality of teaching has improved and she plans a wide range of activities that help children to make good progress. The childminder monitors the educational programmes well. For example, she uses a computer program to help her identify areas where children may need additional support.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder plans a wide range of activities tailored to children's individual needs and interests. She makes good use of the local community to provide different learning experiences. For example, they go to the woods and act-out familiar stories. They visit the library and local beach where they learn about marine life. The childminder works closely with parents when their children initially attend to enable her to plan their learning from the start. She completes regular observations and assessments and uses this information effectively to help her plan the next stages in children's learning.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children clearly enjoy their time with the childminder. They build secure relationships and feel safe in the welcoming environment. Children learn about road safety and healthy lifestyles as they walk to and from school and pre-school. Children behave well. Older children show consideration for others and help the younger children. For example, older children read stories to younger children and help them as they mix water with dried mash potato to learn about how it changes consistency.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children are motivated in their learning and gain the skills they need for school. They show high levels of confidence and good communication skills. For example, they make faces using dough and are keen to talk about the different expressions. They thoroughly enjoy choosing different animals that they may see at the zoo during a song and rhyme activity. Children excitedly look at different insects through magnifying glasses and look at pictures in a book to identify them. Children successfully gain skills for early reading and understanding of the world.
