This provision is good
The childminder establishes very effective partnerships with parents and shares good quality information with them. She successfully encourages consistency in children's care and learning between their homes, her setting and as they explore the environment. Since the previous inspection, the childminder has greatly enhanced her practice and the quality of her teaching following changes to the way she monitors children's progress. The childminder has a thorough understanding of each child's interests and abilities. She uses this information to skilfully plan and deliver interesting and challenging experiences. Children make good progress in their learning. Children develop their physical skills extremely well. The childminder has high expectations for children's behaviour and they follow her example by showing kindness to others and managing their feelings appropriately. The childminder works closely with children's parents to ensure children are emotionally

well prepared for changes, such as when they start new playgroups and nurseries.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not focus her professional development on the areas of her teaching that require most improvement to equip her with the knowledge and skills to support children with speech and language delay to the highest levels.
p.1
What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:
p.2
What the setting needs to do to improve further
extend the already good programme of professional development to identify further strategies to reduce gaps and delays in children's learning with specific regard to supporting children with speech and language delay.
p.2
Inspection activities
The inspector observed care routines and teaching, and the impact of these on children's safety, welfare and learning. The inspector reviewed policies, and discussed the procedures relating to children's safety and welfare with the childminder. The inspector looked at children's records, the childminder's planning and evaluation of activities, and information exchanged with parents. The inspector took account of the views of parents in written communications. The inspector spoke with the childminder about the impact of her training, experience and practice on children's well-being, learning and development.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder keeps up to date with new guidance and uses her qualification and good knowledge of safeguarding to implement effective daily procedures to help keep children healthy, safe and secure. The childminder establishes professional relationships with parents that are also warm and supportive. She is attentive to their feedback on the effectiveness of her practices and is quick to adapt her support for changing family circumstances. Parents appreciate the quality of information the childminder shares about their children's daily activities, new achievements and next steps in learning.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder observes children carefully. She responds to their needs, thoughts and feelings promptly, sensitively and effectively. The childminder skilfully creates good opportunities for play that build on children's current interests, abilities and confidence. For example, when children show a fascination with diggers, she provides a wide range of toy construction vehicles for them to investigate. Children make their own discoveries and develop finer handling skills, and the childminder gently introduces new concepts, such as big and small, and new vocabulary to describe their actions. The childminder reflects well on children's learning, swiftly records their progress, and devises further experiences, for example, to extend children's creativity.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder is very caring and attentive, and children are safe and secure in her presence. They soon settle and develop positive relationships with the childminder's family and with other children. The childminder nurtures children's confidence. For instance, she gradually introduces different types of sensory and messy play to help children become more self-assured and willing to try new activities. Children use a wide range of stimulating equipment, for example, in the childminder's garden, at local parks and on walks and outings into the countryside. The childminder furthers children's awareness of how to keep themselves safe, for example, as they play imaginatively in her garden, and on visits to farms and parks.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children learn to concentrate, adapt and experiment. They develop positive attitudes towards others and to their learning. Children gain the key skills they need for the next stage in their learning and for school.
