It is not yet outstanding because:

The childminder has successfully addressed the actions and recommendations raised at the last inspection. She has made good use of the support provided by local authority advisers and other childminders. The childminder regularly evaluates the quality of her provision and seeks the views of parents when identifying improvements. She plans to further develop the indoor and outdoor play areas to improve learning opportunities for children. The childminder works closely with her assistant to monitor and develop her practice. The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder has a good understanding of how to promote children's safety and welfare. She is aware of the procedure to follow should she have a concern about a child's welfare. The childminder ensures her home is safe and completes regular health and safety checks to help minimise any risks. Children learn how to keep themselves safe. For example, they are reminded

She plays alongside children and provides continuous praise and encouragement. Children have access to a wide range of resources that they can freely choose from and explore. They enjoy initiating their own play activities. For example, they ask to paint butterflies and the childminder helps them to collect resources and prepare the painting area. Children have opportunities to practise their counting skills and identify colours in their play. They enjoy sharing books and listening to familiar stories.

p.3

Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good

Children are learning to be independent and are encouraged to do things for themselves. They are supported well with their self-care skills, such as washing their hands before eating. The childminder promotes a healthy lifestyle. Children are encouraged to help with the preparation of meals and snacks. For example, they enjoy adding toppings to their pizzas for lunch and making fruit kebabs to eat at snack time. Children's physical development is very well promoted. They have regular opportunities to play outdoors in the garden and to practise their physical skills on the climbing apparatus at the local park. The childminder teaches children how to stay safe in the sun. She talks to them about the importance of wearing a sun hat and using sun cream to stop their skin from burning.

p.3

Outcomes for children are good

Children enjoy their time with the childminder and make good progress in all areas of their learning and development. They actively engage in their learning and display high levels of concentration during activities. Children play well together, share resources and take turns.
