This provision is good
The childminder has close relationships with her co-minder and assistants. They work as a friendly team and share most aspects of the children's care and learning. The childminder keeps children safe in a secure environment. She allows children to assess and take careful risks to help them learn what they can do. The childminder assesses children's progress in detail, which enables her to plan suitable challenges to move their learning on further. Children absorb themselves in activities linked to their own interests or planned topics, for example. They all make good developmental progress. Children are settled and confident with the childminder, her assistants and co-minder with whom they have equally good relationships. Children eat very well. They have freshly cooked and nutritious meals every day, enjoyed as part of sociable mealtimes while they discuss the health benefits.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
During some small-group activities, the less confident children have fewer opportunities to speak out, answer questions and make a valuable contribution than more-confident children. The childminder does not always encourage parents fully to contribute to children's progress reviews for a shared approach, or on her provision overall as part of an effective evaluation process.

What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

review how children are grouped to support all children to express their views and ideas build on systems already in place to engage parents more closely in children's assessments and the self-evaluation process.
p.2
Inspection activities
The inspector observed the childminder interacting with children inside and outside. The inspector took account of parents' views from written testimonials. The inspector saw how the childminder works with her assistant and co-minder. The inspector looked at documentation, including children's records, planning and suitability checks.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder checks the suitability of assistants before she allows them unsupervised access to children. She knows what signs to be aware of that may indicate children at risk. The childminder ensures she keeps her assistants up to date with policy changes and training for consistency. Parents comment on the 'variety of educational subjects provided in a fun, exciting manner'. They share information about what their children can do when they start with the childminder, as a starting point for planning. The childminder has worked hard to make improvements to her provision. She made changes quickly following her previous inspections to ensure she continues to meet the requirements.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder has created an inviting environment full of interesting resources. Children choose freely where they want to be and eagerly get involved in the appealing activities. For example, children bash a range of kitchen items that hang outside to make music. The childminder and assistants support children's language and communication continually. They engage in conversations and share information. For instance, they describe some of the fish and creatures that live in the sea, including fish that glow and turtles that survive in and out of the water. The childminder encourages children's creativity and early writing, such as by using chalks to draw and 'write' on the patio.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children have many opportunities to be outside, they enjoy the space that lets them move about freely and develop physically. They build with large soft-play equipment to climb and balance on, and eagerly help to water the vegetables they have grown because they are dry. Children learn more about the natural world, for example, when they care for the pet guinea pigs. The childminder explains they need to be gentle when they hold and stroke them, and children know to wash their hands straight after. Children develop good relationships with the childminder and assistants with a flexible key-person system. The childminder encourages children's independence and praises their efforts. They respond with good behaviour, and show pride in their achievements. Children make friends easily and show kindness to others, including younger children.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children are curious and show many skills they will need as they move on and learn more. They have good concentration and imaginations. For example, they spend a long time using their creativity to construct a 'building'. Children become increasingly independent, for example in managing their clothes and using tools to prepare food.
