This provision is good
The childminder provides a wide range of interesting and exciting activities, which are fun and children enjoy. All children make good progress. The childminder has addressed the actions and recommendation raised at the previous inspection. For example, she now completes a progress check for children aged two years, and provides parents with a written summary of their children's learning. The childminder has established effective partnerships with parents, overall. She works well with other early years settings and external agencies. Parents report that children are very happy. The childminder successfully meets children's individual needs. Children develop strong bonds with the childminder and are happy, settled and confident in her care. This supports their emotional development effectively. The childminder completes training and keeps up to date with new information through links with other professionals to help improve her practice and outcomes for children.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not gain as much information as possible from parents about what their children already know and can do at the start, to help with planning from the outset. The childminder does not always use the correct words when talking or repeating words back to children, pronouncing them correctly, so they learn how they sound.

What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

p.2
Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching and the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector sampled a range of documentation, including children's records and the childminder's policies. The inspector and childminder observed children during an activity and completed a follow-up discussion about children's learning and progress. The inspector spoke to the childminder, her co-childminder and children at appropriate times during the inspection. The inspector took account of parents' views from their written comments.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a good knowledge and understanding of safeguarding issues. She is vigilant and supervises children well to keep them safe at all times. She knows the procedures to follow if she had a concern about a child's welfare. Since the last inspection, the childminder has improved the way in which she evaluates her practice and makes ongoing improvements. For example, she has extended the way she monitors, tracks and records children's progress. This helps her to quickly identify any gaps in children's learning so that she can plan focused activities to help them catch up with their friends. The childminder and her co-childminder regularly discuss the children's development, the success of activities and consider any feedback from parents when evaluating the provision.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder supports children well. For example, she uses words such as 'big' and 'small' to help young children understand size as they investigate which wheeled vehicles fit into cardboard tubes. The childminder regularly takes children on exciting outings, which develop their social skills and extend their learning about the world. For example, they visit the library to choose books and take part in organised activities. They find out about animals and wildlife when visiting a sea-life centre. The childminder uses a range of good teaching skills to support children's language development. For example, she uses puppets to successfully engage children in song and story times.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children learn to share, take turns and play harmoniously together. Their behaviour is good. The childminder gives the children lots of praise and encouragement, which helps to boost their confidence and self-esteem. She encourages children to think about their own safety. For example, encouraging them to tidy the toys and being aware of those around them when using the swing. Children learn about the importance of healthy eating and lifestyles. They enjoy home-cooked, nutritious meals and follow thorough hygiene routines. They have many good opportunities to develop their physical skills. For example, the childminder takes them to the park, where they use equipment to develop their climbing and balancing skills.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children are confident and independent learners. They learn the necessary skills to help them prepare for the next stage in their learning and starting school. For example, they sustain good levels of concentration as they play and follow instructions well. Children learn to dress themselves and manage their own self-care skills successfully. This builds their independence skills successfully.
