This provision is good
Children make good progress in relation to their starting points. The childminder uses observations and assessments effectively to monitor children's development and help them achieve the next steps in their learning. Children behave well, show good manners and treat others with kindness. They respond positively to the childminder's consistent messages to help them learn to respect the choices and feelings of others. The childminder maintains good standards of health and safety for children and provides guidance to help them learn about keeping safe. The childminder engages in regular professional development to extend her knowledge and skills. For example, she attends training and keeps up-to-date regarding changes and new guidance to help her to gain an even better understanding of how to safeguard children's welfare.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder misses some opportunities for children to learn more about people and communities. For example, children do not regularly explore aspects of one another's lives or families. The childminder does not routinely seek the views of parents when she is undertaking her self-evaluation to help her to make further improvements to her provision.

What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

Inspection activities
The inspector observed activities and the quality of the childminder's interaction with the children. The inspector observed the management of children's care routines. The inspector looked at children's assessment records. The inspector sampled the childminder's documentation and discussed her knowledge of the requirements of the early years foundation stage.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a good understanding of her role and responsibilities to help protect children from harm and knows how to respond in the event of a concern about a child. The childminder monitors the quality of her provision and has made several improvements since her previous inspection to improve her practice. For example, she now monitors children's learning accurately to identify any gaps in their development and provides purposeful activities to help them make good progress in all areas. This includes helping children to manage more tasks for themselves to encourage their independence. The childminder now provides parents with a written summary of their child's progress between the age of two and three years, as required; to keep them well-informed and for them to share with other professionals.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder provides interesting play areas for children with a good range of activities to support their learning. She joins in with children's play, as appropriate, to support them and to help them achieve their next steps for learning. For example, the childminder encourages children to count and to name shapes. She challenges older children to compare quantities and to calculate to extend their mathematical development further. The childminder supports children's communication and language development well. For example, she repeats back the words she thinks younger children are expressing to encourage their communication and uses props in songs and stories to help them learn new words. Children are keen to join in activities and they engage for long periods in their play.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children form very warm and trusting relationships with the childminder who provides lots of cuddles, comfort and reassurance. The childminder supports children's health and well- being effectively. For example, she provides consistent routines, healthy meals and regular physical play activities. Children confidently make their own choices in play and the childminder joins in to make suggestions to extend their learning and keep them interested. For example, she adds real resources from her kitchen as children become engrossed with the play kitchen activities to extend their imaginations and ideas.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children are happy, settled and make good progress in their learning from the start. They develop good skills for their future learning and are well prepared to move on to school. For example, they learn to manage tasks themselves, to communicate confidently and develop positive attitudes and good social skills.
